The Spatial Configuration and Force Analyses of Hoses in a Fully Hose-Based Conveyance System

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The conveying hose is an important piece of equipment in the field of Marine engineering. Its spatial configuration and force conditions affect the normal operation of the Marine engineering system.

Numerical simulation of Vortex-induced Vibration of A Top-tensioned Riser

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2021
Abstract The objective purpose of the paper is explore the prediction the vortex-induced vibration (VIV) of a top-tensioned riser. The riser model is established based on vector form intrinsic finite element (VFIFE) method. The riser is discretized into a set of mass points whose motion follow the Newton’s second law and the central ...

Analytical investigation of tension fields effects on plastic moment of intermediate beams in steel plate shear walls [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering, 2018
In this paper Analytical plastic procedures for studying tension fields effects on intermediate beams in steel plate shear walls and estimating the plastic moments of horizontal boundary elements under equal and unequal top and bottom tension fields of ...

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Mathematical Modelling and Dynamic Analysis of an Offshore Drilling Riser

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
In this paper, a dynamic model of an offshore drilling riser is developed based on the Hamilton principle. The developed dynamic model is transformed into a finite element model by introducing an approximate solution which chooses the Hermite cubic ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The mechanism of bending-toppling loess collapse caused by headward erosion

open access: yesZhongguo dizhi zaihai yu fangzhi xuebao, 2021
Tracing erosion is the strongest dynamic geological action in loess hilly areas. It often causes the head of the ditch to retreat and the toe of the slope to be eroded, which in turn leads to collapse.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
