Topical administration of racemic ibuprofen
Chirality, 1997In vitro experiments to investigate possible stereoselective aspects of the topical administration of ibuprofen have been conducted. Incubation of ibuprofen with rat skin homogenates in the presence of coenzyme A, ATP, and magnesium provided no evidence for the formation of ibuprofenyl coenzyme A (the initial intermediate in the metabolic inversion of [

Optimal Frequency of Topical Prednisolone Administration
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1979The relationship between the frequency with which 0.125% and 1.0% prednisolone acetate ophthalmic suspensions are instilled and the anti-inflammatory effect they achieve in the cornea was studied. Within the time limits of the experimental protocol, application of the drug at four-hour intervals failed to produce an effect while hourly administration ...

Antihistamines: topical vs oral administration
Clinical & Experimental Allergy, 1996SummaryThe pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis is complex, involving not only histamine and mast cell‐derived tryptase, but also eosinophil‐ and neutrophil‐derived mediators, cytokines, and intercellular cell adhesion molecules (ICAM‐1). It is surprising that antihistamines, which block only one component of the process, have proved so effective in the ...

Dermal absorption of permethrin following topical administration
European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 2005Permethrin is an insecticide used in the treatment of lice and scabies infections. Although its efficacy and safety have been well documented, pharmacokinetic data are sparse. The objective of this study was to determine the systemic exposure of permethrin and the duration of residence in the human body following topical administration. The study ...
