Carbon dynamics in high‐Andean tropical cushion peatlands: A review of geographic patterns and potential drivers

open access: yesEcological Monographs, Volume 94, Issue 3, August 2024.
Abstract Peatlands store large amounts of carbon (C), a function potentially threatened by climate change. Peatlands composed of vascular cushion plants are widespread in the northern and central high Andes (páramo, wet and dry puna), but their C dynamics are hardly known.

Ensemble modelling to predict the distribution of vulnerable marine ecosystems indicator taxa on data‐limited seamounts of Cabo Verde (NW Africa)

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 30, Issue 8, August 2024.
Abstract Aim Seamounts are conspicuous geological features with an important ecological role and can be considered vulnerable marine ecosystems (VMEs). Since many deep‐sea regions remain largely unexplored, investigating the occurrence of VME taxa on seamounts is challenging.

Coves litorals, geomorfologia i jaciments del quaternari de la Marina de Llucmajor. Zona 1: la franja costanera entre es Racó des Llobets i Cala s'Esglesieta (2a. part) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Es presenta la topografia i descripció de 18 coves litorals de Llucmajor (Illa de Mallorca). Es comenta la seva possible gènesi i les característiques morfològiques més destacades. Es descriuen jaciments paleontològics inèdits del Pleistocè superior marí;

Dynamics of tree stems and biomass in old‐growth and secondary forests along gradients in liana dominance, elevation and soil

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 112, Issue 7, Page 1638-1654, July 2024.
Secondary tropical forests can show resilience, maintaining carbon storage and ecological functions despite disturbances. Tree dynamics are influenced by elevation, soil properties and complex interactions with lianas, which can have both positive and negative impacts, depending on the context. These insights can guide ecosystem restoration strategies,

PARENTIUM - TOPOGRAFIA ANTICA (Topografia dalle origini all'epoca paleobizantina)

open access: yesAtti, 1997

Volcanic Unrest After the 2021 Eruption of La Palma

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 11, 16 June 2024.
Abstract La Palma, Canary Islands, had its largest historical eruption in 2021. From January 2022 to May 2023 there were >2,100 seismic events, primarily at depths ≤20 km, prompting us to update the deformation and modeling study, using interferometric synthetic aperture radar observations and a last generation interpretation tool.

The 2021 La Palma (Canary Islands) Eruption Ending Forecast Through Magma Pressure Drop

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 10, 28 May 2024.
Abstract Forecast of eruptive activity is a core challenge in volcanology. Here, we present an actual forecast for the end of the 2021 La Palma eruption. Using continuous GNSS data, we identified a co‐eruptive quasi‐exponential deflation trend. Assuming mass conservation, magma upflow from an overpressurized reservoir drives the eruptive process.

Some factors affecting the distribution and apparent abundance of yellowfin and skipjack tuna in the Eastern Pacific Ocean [PDF]

open access: yes, 1964
ENGLISH: Since 1951, the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission has been investigating the biology, ecology and population dynamics of the yellowfin tuna, Thunnus albacares, and the skipjack tuna, Katsuwonus pelamis, in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
