Topographic Effects in Stratified Flows
2022Covering both theory and experiment, this text describes the behaviour of homogeneous and density-stratified fluids over and around topography. Its presentation is suitable for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in fluid mechanics, as well as for practising scientists, engineers, and researchers. Using laboratory experiments and illustrations

Research of Earthquake Topographic Effect
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014In this paper, the influence of topography on ground-motion intensity parameter, response spectrum, peak ground acceleration (PGA) and the ratio of response spectrum were studied based on the measured data from large scale shaking table test and observation stations in XiShan park for Wenchuan earthquake. The results show that: in the EW direction, the

Topographic effects on film thickness
Materials Letters, 1986Abstract During integrated circuit fabrication, when thin films are deposited under mass transfer control with large surface mobilities (giving conformai coverage), the deposited thickness is lower over topographic features than over smooth planar regions.

Topographic effect in a Faraday experiment
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1999Summary: We study surface waves in water or granular layers and on the surface of weakly cohesive upperlying soils. A one-dimensional perturbed wave equations is derived for these waves. It is shown that the waves may be excited due to local topographies and a vertical excitation.

The effect of topographic characteristics on cell migration velocity
Biomaterials, 2006The migration of cells on structured surfaces is known to be affected by its surface topography. Although the effects of topography have been extensively investigated the crucial parameters determining the cell-surface reaction are largely unknown. The present study was performed to describe and to define the role of groove/elevation (ridge) dimensions

Effects of ageing on topographic organization of somatosensory cortex
NeuroReport, 1995Deficits in limb coordination and decreased motor activity have been described in old rats older than 24 months, an approved animal model in ageing research. We investigated the implications of age-related decline of sensorimotor performance by studying the functional cortical organization of aged rats.

Effect of topographic stress on circulation in the western Mediterranean
Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 1994The interaction of eddies with seafloor topography can exert large systematic forces on ocean circulation. Using a statistical mechanics approach it is possible to obtain a parametrization of this effect (the Neptune effect) for application in largeāscale ocean circulation models.

Topographic Effects on Stratified Flows
2002Abstract : The long-term goal is to use measurements and develop theory for stratified flow past topography. To understand the relevant processes, including establishment of the high drag state, the role of boundary layer separation, entrainment, and the generation, propagation and dissipation of internal solitary waves.

COUPLING BETWEEN STRATIGRAPHIC AND TOPOGRAPHIC EFFECTS ON SLOPES
Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering (COMPDYN 2015), 2015In this paper the seismic response of simple slope geometries under vertically propagating in-plane shear waves is assessed through two-dimensional finite element analyses to investigate the amplification of the ground motion induced by soil topography.

Topographic Effects on Ocean Mixing
2001Abstract : The long-term goals are: To understand and parameterize interior and near-boundary mixing processes. To understand the dynamical processes occurring in the surface layer of the ocean and parameterize them in ocean models. To understand the physical oceanography of straits and semi-enclosed seas.
