Cosmology with twisted tori [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2007
We consider the cosmological role of the scalar fields generated by the compactification of 11-dimensional Einstein gravity on a 7D elliptic twisted torus, which has the attractive features of giving rise to a positive semi-definite potential, and partially fixing the moduli.

Surgical Outcomes and Recurrence Management in Borderline Resectable Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Implications for Multidisciplinary Strategies

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Multivariate analysis identified that up‐to‐7 out (p < 0.001), lymph node metastasis (p < 0.001), and non‐anatomical resection (p = 0.02) were independent predictors of cancer recurrence, while older age (p = 0.01), Child‐Pugh B (p < 0.001), up‐to‐7 out (p = 0.01), macrovascular invasion (p = 0.01), and lymph node metastasis (p < 0.001) were ...

Prevalence and clinical characteristics of oral tori among outpatients in Northern Malaysia

open access: yesJournal of Oral Biology and Craniofacial Research, 2012
: Objectives: The objectives of this study were to determine the prevalence and clinical characteristics of torus palatinus (TP) and torus mandibularis (TM) in Malaysian dental patients. Methods: Thousand five hundred and thirty-two dental patients were

Differential Prognostic Impact of Prior Cholecystectomy Between Proximal and Distal Colorectal Cancer: A 12‐Year Retrospective Cohort Study of 3487 Consecutive Patients

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In this retrospective cohort of 3487 patients with CRC, history of CCY was associated with significantly worse prognosis in patients with proximal CRC but not in those with distal CRC. This differential prognostic impact showed a statistically significant interaction between tumor location and history of CCY and remained robust after PSM.

Small points on subvarieties of a torus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Let V be a subvariety of a torus defined over the algebraic numbers. We give a qualitative and quantitative description of the set of points of V of height bounded by invariants associated to any variety containing V .

Surgery on nullhomologous tori [PDF]

open access: yesGeometry & Topology Monographs, 2012
By studying the example of smooth structures on CP^2#3(-CP^2) we illustrate how surgery on a single embedded nullhomologous torus can be utilized to change the symplectic structure, the Seiberg-Witten invariant, and hence the smooth structure on a 4-manifold.

Survival Outcomes of Gemcitabine–Cisplatin–S‐1 Versus Gemcitabine–Cisplatin in Unresectable Biliary Tract Cancer: A Multicenter Retrospective Study With a Focus on Conversion Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In this multicenter retrospective study conducted by the Biliary Tract Club, we compared survival outcomes between gemcitabine–cisplatin–S‐1 (GCS) and gemcitabine–cisplatin (GC) in patients with unresectable biliary tract cancer, with a particular focus on conversion surgery. GCS was associated with longer overall and progression‐free survival compared

Sensitivity analysis of stochastically forced quasiperiodic self-oscillations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
We study a problem of stochastically forced quasi-periodic self-oscillations of nonlinear dynamic systems, which are modelled by an invariant torus in the phase space.

Geometrically thick equilibrium tori around a dyonic black hole with quasi-topological electromagnetism

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We study geometrically thick and non-self gravitating equilibrium tori orbiting a static spherically symmetric dyonic black hole with quasi-topological electromagnetism.

Prevalence of oral tori and exostosis in Malaysian population – A cross-sectional study

open access: yesJournal of Oral Biology and Craniofacial Research, 2017
Introduction: Oral tori and exostosis are non-pathological bony protuberances seen on the alveolar surfaces of the jaw bones. These are commonly seen on the palatal surfaces of the maxilla [torus palatinus (TP)] and around the premolars in the lingual ...
