Torpedo maculopathy: a morphofunctional evaluation

International Ophthalmology, 2012
To describe the optical coherence tomography (OCT), the standard short-wavelength fundus autofluorescence (SW-FAF) and near-infrared fundus autofluorescence (NIR-FAF), and the microperimetric findings in a child with a unique unilateral lesion of the temporal macula previously called torpedo maculopathy. A 4-year-old female with torpedo maculopathy was

Neurosensory retinal detachment secondary to torpedo maculopathy

Optometry - Journal of the American Optometric Association, 2010
Torpedo maculopathy has been characterized as a congenital retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) nevus.A 38-year-old black woman presented with a chief complaint of intermittent floating spots in the right eye of 7 months' duration. Dilated fundoscopy found a "torpedo-shaped" lesion, with the tip of the lesion pointing toward the temporal macula.

Torpedo Maculopathy. A Case Report

Czech and Slovak Ophthalmology, 2023
Aim: Torpedo maculopathy is an incidental, congenital retinal lesion. The typical clinical finding is a unilateral, symmetric, oval, hypopigmented lesion in the inferotemporal macula. In most cases, the lesion is along the horizontal raphe, is torpedo-shaped, and the nasal edge is directed into the foveola.

OCT FINDINGS IN TORPEDO MACULOPATHY

RETINAL Cases & Brief Reports, 2008
Torpedo maculopathy, also called solitary hypopigmented nevus, is a rare though benign disorder. To our knowledge, there are no previous optical coherence tomography (OCT) descriptions in the literature. Results of ophthalmologic examinations (including retinography, OCT, and visual field testing) for 2 girls aged 12 years and 13 years throughout 5 ...

Torpedo maculopathy.

Journal of the American Optometric Association, 1997
Congenital nevi of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) may manifest variable degrees of pigmentation. These nevi, which are almost always asymptomatic, can be either solitary or grouped. Torpedo maculopathy is a recently described congenital RPE nevus.A review of congenital nevi of the RPE is presented to include torpedo maculopathy.Torpedo ...

The Expanding Clinical Spectrum of Torpedo Maculopathy

Optometry and Vision Science, 2014
Torpedo maculopathy is an idiopathic, congenital, oval-shaped region of chorioretinal hypopigmentation located temporal to the macula. Torpedo lesions are typically unilateral, occasionally harbor an intraretinal cleft, and may be associated with varying degrees of hyperpigmentation. Visual acuity is usually normal, but the lesion may produce a scotoma
