Mountain Torques in the Global Angular Momentum Balance
Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1971Abstract Based on recently published mean maps, the torques upon the atmosphere owing to pressure differences between the west and east faces of mountain ranges are computed for the whole earth, for four midseason months. Considering the year as a whole, mountain torques are eastward in high and low latitudes, and westward in middle latitudes ...

Torque modulation mechanism of the knee joint during balance recovery
Computers in Biology and MedicineExploring the torque modulation mechanisms of human joints is critical for analyzing the human balance control system and developing natural human-machine interactions for balance support. However, the knee joint is often overlooked in biomechanical models because of its limited range of motion during balance recovery.

Torque and Stress Balanced Design of Helically Armored Cables
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1981A new linear model of the mechanical behavior of helically armored cables is introduced. This model can be used to establish the conditions necessary to achieve a torque balanced cable construction and the requirements for equal load sharing among the armoring wires.

Input torque balancing mechanisms to improve machine dynamics
2011Periodic running machines, such as linkages and cam-follower mechanisms, are usually designed considering a constant drive speed. However, in high speed machines, the required torque to drive the input shaft at constant speed exhibits a very high periodic fluctuation, hence massive motors are required to drive even small loads.
