Input Torque Balancing Using an Inverted Cam Mechanism

Volume 5: 27th Biennial Mechanisms and Robotics Conference, 2002
Input torque balancing is a well known way to reduce the fluctuation of the camshaft speed in high-speed cam-follower systems. This paper describes a methodology to design an inverted cam mechanism (ICM) that provides quasi perfect input torque balancing at any speed, provided that the cam-follower system is purely inertial.

Sensitive Automatic Torque Balance for Thin Magnetic Films

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1963
An automatic torque balance has been constructed for use in studying the magnetic properties of thin ferro-magnetic films. The automatic servo force balancing technique using a photoelectric pickoff has been applied to a fused-silica torsion fiber suspension. A sample up to 600 mg in weight can be handled.

Torque-based multi-task and balancing control for humanoid robots

2014 11th International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots and Ambient Intelligence (URAI), 2014
The humanoid robots Justin and Toro at DLR are equipped with joint torque sensors, which allows to implement compliant motion control via highly sensitive impedance behaviors. The control framework presented in this work has been developed using a passivity-based argumentation and avoids feedback cancellation of the natural dynamics.

A simple electrodynamic multiplier using torque balance

Proceedings of the IEE Part B: Electronic and Communication Engineering, 1961
An electrodynamic multiplying system is described which uses simple limited-range torque motors in a torque-balance feedback system. Certain inherent errors exist and the conditions for keeping these within tolerable limits are indicated.

Torque-Balanced High-Density Steady States of Single-Component Plasmas

Physical Review Letters, 2005
Electron plasmas in a Penning-Malmberg trap are compressed radially using a rotating electric field (the "rotating-wall technique"). For large electric fields, plasmas can be compressed over a broad range of frequencies. This permits access to a novel high-density regime in which outward transport is insensitive to plasma density.

Sensitivity of Balancing in Legged Systems Under Torque Constraint Variations

Volume 5B: 42nd Mechanisms and Robotics Conference, 2018
The balancing capabilities of a legged system can be influenced by several properties of the system itself, for instance, the strength of joint motors in a robot or muscle strength in living systems. In this work, the changes in the balancing capabilities of a legged system are evaluated as the joint actuator torque limits of the system change.

New Devices Derived From a Torque Balance Telemeter

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1948
The continued increase in remote indication of electrical and nonelectrical quantities in this country and abroad has taxed the ingenuity of the engineer to provide new systems and auxiliary devices to meet their needs. One of the better known devices used for remote indication of electrical and nonelectrical quantities is the torque balance telemeter.
