Investigation of Torque and Reduction of Torque Ripples through Assisted-Poles in Low-Speed, High-Torque Density Spoke-Type PMSMs

open access: yesMachines
In this article, rotor designs utilizing assisted-poles are investigated for a high-torque density spoke-type permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) with fractional slot concentrated winding (FSCW) to explore the rich air-gap magnetic field harmonics and torque generation mechanism.

An Axial Magnetic Gear With Improved Torque Density and Reduced Cogging Torque

open access: yesIranian Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2021
A new axial magnetic gear (AMG) with enhanced torque density and reduced cogging torque is proposed in this paper. In the new structure, the direction and width of permanent magnets in high-speed rotor are changed and permanent magnets are removed from the modulator while the low-speed rotor remains unchanged.

High-Torque-Density IPMSM Rotor Pole Geometry Adjustment for Smooth Torque [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
High-torque-density electrical machines applied to traction operate at a varying torque and speed, and therefore, when minimizing the torque ripple, a wide variety of possible loads must be considered. Different loads need different current vectors, which affect the magnetic state of the machine.

High Torque Density Torque Motor With Hybrid Magnetization Pole Arrays for Jet Pipe Servo Valve

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2020
Torque motor is one key component that directly influences the dynamic performance of jet pipe servo valve in aircraft. In this paper, a novel torque motor with hybrid-magnetization pole arrays is proposed. By changing the magnetization patterns of permanent magnets, the torque motor can significantly improve the output torque by range of 47–52 ...

Energy-efficient domain wall motion governed by the interplay of helicity-dependent optical effect and spin-orbit torque [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Spin-orbit torque provides a powerful means of manipulating domain walls along magnetic wires. However, the current density required for domain wall motion is still too high to realize low power devices.
