Design and Performance Analysis of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for Electric Vehicles Application [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2021
In electrical vehicle applications, power density plays a significant role in improving machine performance. The main objective of this paper is to design and analyze the performance of in-wheel outer rotor permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) used ...

Energy-efficient domain wall motion governed by the interplay of helicity-dependent optical effect and spin-orbit torque [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Spin-orbit torque provides a powerful means of manipulating domain walls along magnetic wires. However, the current density required for domain wall motion is still too high to realize low power devices.

Spin-Transfer Torque Switching at Ultra Low Current Densities

open access: yesMATERIALS TRANSACTIONS, 2015
The influence of the tantalum buffer layer on the magnetic anisotropy of perpendicular Co-Fe-B/MgO based magnetic tunnel junctions is studied using magneto-optical Kerr-spectroscopy. Samples without a tantalum buffer are found to exhibit no perpendicular magnetization.

Non-equilibrium spin density and spin-orbit torque in three dimensional topological insulators - antiferromagnet heterostructure

open access: yes, 2019
We study the behavior of non-equilibrium spin density and spin-orbit torque in a topological insulator - antiferromagnet heterostructure. Unlike ferromagnetic heterostructures where Dirac cone is gapped due to time-reversal symmetry breaking, here the ...

Spin-Torque Generation in Topological-Insulator-Based Heterostructures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Heterostructures utilizing topological insulators exhibit a remarkable spin-torque efficiency. However, the exact origin of the strong torque, in particular whether it stems from the spin-momentum locking of the topological surface states or rather from ...

Design and experimental evaluation of a multi-drum magnetorheological brake with side-set dual-coil

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
Torque density, torque range and response time are the problems to be solved urgently in the field of magnetorheological (MR) transmission. To improve the torque, the most frequently used techniques are increasing the effective area and magnetic field ...

Disk-satellite interaction in disks with density gaps

open access: yes, 2012
Gravitational coupling between a gaseous disk and an orbiting perturber leads to angular momentum exchange between them which can result in gap opening by planets in protoplanetary disks and clearing of gas by binary supermassive black holes (SMBHs ...

Improving the torque generation in self-sensing BLDC drives by shaping the current waveform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Brushless DC drives are widely used in different fields of application because of their high efficiency and power density. Torque ripple can be considered one of the drawbacks of these drives.

Current Induced Fingering Instability in Magnetic Domain Walls [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The shape instability of magnetic domain walls under current is investigated in a ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)(As,P) film with perpendicular anisotropy. Domain wall motion is driven by the spin transfer torque mechanism.

Limited Angle Torque Motors Having High Torque Density, Used in Accurate Drive Systems

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2011
A torque motor is a special electric motor that is able to develop the highest possible torque in a certain volume. A torque motor usually has a pancake configuration, and is directly jointed to a drive system (without a gear box). A limited angle torque motor is a torque motor that has no rotary electromagnetic field — in certain papers it is referred
