Analysis and minimization of torque ripple for variable flux reluctance machines

open access: yes2017 IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference (IEMDC), 2017
Variable flux reluctance machines (VFRMs) are permanent-magnet-free three-phase machines and are promising candidates for applications requiring low cost and robustness. This paper studies the torque ripple and minimization methods for 12-stator VFRMs.

Torque ripple minimization in permanent magnet synchronous servodrive

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1999
In this paper the electromagnetic torque developed in permanent magnet synchronous motors is analyzed. Two strategies are discussed for torque ripple minimization. The first is based on numerical predetermination of the current waveform which is imposed by the control in machine phases to obtain a constant torque.

Minimization of Torque Ripple in PWM AC Drives

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2009
A pulsewidth modulation (PWM) technique is proposed for minimizing the RMS torque ripple in inverter-fed induction motor drives subject to a given average switching frequency of the inverter. The proposed PWM technique is a combination of optimal continuous modulation and discontinuous modulation.

Torque ripple minimization in direct-drive systems

Proceedings. 1998 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems. Innovations in Theory, Practice and Applications (Cat. No.98CH36190), 2002
The open-loop torque control of synchronous motors with minimum torque ripple and minimum copper losses is presented. The control problem is viewed as an optimization problem for the nonlinear mapping from desired torque and position to the motor's phase currents.

A new compensation technique for PMSM torque ripple minimization

2015 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2015
Ensuring torque smoothness is an essential requirement in a wide range of high performance applications based on permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM). The reported work proposes a novel technique for the compensation of the torque oscillations essentially caused by the spatial harmonics which can result from the machine design imperfectness or ...
