Torque ripple minimization for variable reluctance motors

Mechatronics, 1994
Abstract The design of current waveforms that minimize torque ripples in variable reluctance (VR) motors is addressed. The general problem of torque ripple reduction has been investigated by several researchers using various nonlinear models. The results have been design methods that require exhaustive measurements of motor characteristics.

Torque ripple minimization strategy for direct torque control of production motor

Conference Record of 1998 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. Thirty-Third IAS Annual Meeting (Cat. No.98CH36242), 1998
In this paper, a torque ripple minimization technique with constant switching frequency is proposed for direct torque control (DTC) of an induction motor. Some drawbacks of conventional DTC are the generation of relatively large torque ripple in a low speed region and a variation of switching frequency according to the amplitudes of torque and flux ...

Commutation-Torque-Ripple Minimization in Direct-Torque-Controlled PM Brushless DC Drives

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2006
This paper describes an improved implementation of direct torque control (DTC) to a permanent-magnet brushless dc (BLDC) drive. The commutation torque ripple, which occurs every 60deg elec. in a conventional three-phase BLDC machine with two-phase 120deg elec.

Torque Ripple Minimization for Bearingless Synchronous Reluctance Motor

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2018
A bearingless synchronous reluctance motor (BSRM) is a new type of bearingless motors with numerous advantages. The conventional BSRM with a salient-pole rotor is easy to manufacture at the cost of low output torque and high torque ripple. In this paper, a new rotor structure with multilayer flux barrier of the BSRM is proposed to improve performances ...

Minimization of Torque Ripple in Brushless DC Motor Drives

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1986
Torque characteristics of brushless dc motors are studied in terms of the EMF and the feed currents for two feeding schemes: two-phase feeding and three-phase feeding. Various techniques for minimizing torque ripple are considered and discussed.

Torque ripple minimization of switched reluctance drives - a survey

5th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2010), 2010
Torque ripple is a major problem of switched reluctance motor drive system, which causes undesirable vibration and acoustic noise. The magnetization pattern of the individual phases together with the static characteristics of the motor dictate the amount of torque ripple during operation.

Modeling and torque ripple minimization of Transverse Flux machines

2013 15th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE), 2013
A lumped parameter model describing the electromagnetic behavior of Transverse Flux Machines is proposed. Varying magnetic conductivities along the rotor perimeter representing the effective air gap are used to determine the harmonic effects on current dynamics and torque generation. To reduce torque ripples, a control scheme is presented.

Control and minimization of torque ripple in switched reluctance generator

2005 European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2005
This paper deals with the operation of a switched reluctance generator (SRG) for wind turbine applications. The machine flux characteristics are deduced from the finite element method and approximated by a Krigeage interpolation method. The nonlinear model is used to analyze the characteristics of the SRG in self-excitation mode.

Study of minimize torque ripple for switched reluctance motor

2011 International Conference on Electrical and Control Engineering, 2011
The study of minimizing torque ripple is one of the most popular projects in SRM research area. We introduced the existing 8/6 SRM about basic parameters and torque characteristics and optimized pole arcs by using two-dimensional finite element method(FEM) for the purpose of reducing torque ripple and improving performance.
