Suppressing Pulsating Torques: Torque Ripple Control for Synchronous Motors

IEEE Industry Applications Magazine, 2014
This article proposes a novel control technique for suppressing pulsating torques in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) and synchronous reluctance motors (Syn-RMs). This torque-control system is based on instantaneous torque estimation with a rigorous analytical model that can account for spatial harmonics.

Some considerations on torque ripple suppression in reluctance motors

Electrical Engineering in Japan, 1998
Although the reluctance motors are attractive from the standpoints of simple construction and drive electronics, the relatively high torque ripple and acoustic noise are the major drawbacks. These drawbacks make the motor application limited. In the paper, the torque ripple suppression of the reluctance motor under the sinusoidal current drive is ...

Anticogging: Torque ripple suppression, modeling, and parameter selection

The International Journal of Robotics Research, 2015
Smooth motion is critical to some robotic applications such as haptics or those requiring high precision force control. These systems are often direct-drive, so any torque ripple in the motor output must be minimal. Unfortunately, low-torque ripple motors are expensive.

E-drive motor torque ripple suppression algorithm research

2017 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation (ICMA), 2017
This paper analyzes different types of the resolver angle error, and introduces the rotor angle observer to reduce the angle ripple. The internal mode control algorithm is presented to reduce phase current ripple for big reluctance torque motor. Using this method for certain PHEV project in United Automotive Electronic Systems Cooperation, motor ...

Torque Ripple Suppression of Switched Reluctance Motor Based on Torque Sharing Strategy

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
The torque ripple is the main disadvantage of switched reluctance motor (SRM). In order to reduce the torque ripple of SRM, and improve the performance of the system, the torque sharing strategy was combined with RBF neural network for the purpose of torque ripple suppression by controlling the winding current of each phase.

Torque ripple suppression control for PM motor with high bandwidth torque meter

2009 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2009
PM motor drive systems are widely used in many industrial applications. However, PM motors have the fluctuation of the magnetic field distribution which produces the torque ripple. Dead time of the inverter, offset of sensors and current measurement errors lead to the torque ripple, too.

Study on suppressing unreasonable torque ripple in SPMSM-DTC system

2017 36th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2017
In order to suppress unreasonable torque ripple of direct torque control (DTC) in surface permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM), the SPMSM-DTC mode is established and the effect of voltage vectors selected by switching table on torque is analyzed. The conclusion of the change in torque is contrary to expectation when the changes of stator flux and

Torque ripple suppression in an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor

2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2008
In this paper, a new method for shape design optimization, using sensitivity analysis on the finite element (FE) model of an interior permanent magnet (IPM) synchronous motor, based on torque waveform, is proposed. Torque pulsations are our objective function for minimization.
