TORSION QUINTESSENCE

Modern Physics Letters A, 2002
A natural way to obtain quintessence, i.e. negative pressure contributions in cosmological dynamics and then accelerated behavior of the Hubble fluid, is to take into account a torsion fluid whose effects become relevant at large scale. We investigate a model where a totally antisymmetric torsion field is taken into account and discuss the conditions ...

Adnexal torsion

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1985
A series of 128 cases of adnexal torsion and an additional 97 cases where the preoperative diagnosis of torsion was incorrect are reviewed. The diagnosis is uncertain and surgical intervention is likely to be delayed. The adnexa are seldom salvaged despite the fact that torsion infrequently involves a malignant neoplasm.

Torsion dystonia

Current Opinion in Neurology, 1996
We review the experimental evidence from genetic and neurophysiological studies on idiopathic and secondary torsion dystonias. We also discuss the treatment of dystonia by botulinum toxin injections and surgical therapy.

Tibial Torsion?

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1976
A longitudinal study evaluating the degree of rotation of the bimalleolar axis of tibia and fibula at birth, 6 month, 12 months and 24 months revealed a gradual statistically significant external rotation from a mean of 4 degrees at birth to a mean of 11 degrees at 24 months. There was no correlation with the sex or race of the child or with the age at

Torsional Diplopia

American Orthoptic Journal, 2015
Torsional diplopia can result in failure of fusion in an individual without a measureable strabismus. When presented with a patient with complaints of binocular diplopia, physicians and orthoptists should consider cyclovertical muscle dysfunction when the source of the complaint is not readily apparent.A thorough review of the literature combined with ...

TESTICULAR TORSION

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1995
A retrospective review of 80 patients who underwent scrotal exploration for presumed testicular torsion is presented. Of these, 67 patients were found to have torsion, and the testicular loss rate was 51%. Patients who experienced delays in scrotal exploration of more than 24 h from onset of symptoms had a testicular loss rate of 71 %.

Adnexal Torsion

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1999
Summary: We performed a retrospective audit of 24 cases of adnexal torsion managed at National Women's Hospital from 1996 to 1997 inclusive. There have been several reports in the recent literature of ovarian conservation in cases of ovarian infarction secondary to torsion in women desiring further fertility (1–3).

Torsional Deformity

Pediatric Clinics of North America, 1977
Torsional deformity should be localized, quantitated, and usually managed by "observation," an approach that is set forth in detail in this article. Shoe modifications and daytime braces are inappropriate. Night splints or operative procedures are rarely indicated.
