Residual torsional strength after impact of CFRP tubes

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2010
This paper investigates the residual torsional strength of cylindrical T300-carbon/epoxy tubular specimens damaged by low-velocity impacts. A total of 24 specimens were subjected to a 7 J transverse impact under various torsional preloads. First, the torsional strength of four different lamination sequences is studied.

Saccular impact on ocular torsion

Brain Research Bulletin, 1996
When someone is tilted laterally, the shear force on the maculae of the utriculus and the sacculus is described by the sine and the cosine of the angle of tilt, respectively. So both the sacculus and the utriculus are stimulated, but in the literature, ocular torsion is normally attributed to utricular function alone (and, thus, seen as a response to y-

Impact Response of Torsionally Coupled Base-isolated Structures

Journal of Vibration and Control, 2010
The seismic response of a single-story asymmetric structure supported on various base isolation systems during impact with adjacent structures is investigated. Eccentricities arising due to elastic forces in the columns at the top-deck and the restoring forces in the isolation systems at the base-raft are considered.

Torsional-impact apparatus

Experimental Mechanics, 1972
A torsional-impact machine has been developed to investigate the dynamic behavior of metals at large strains and high strain rates. Two machines are described; the first was used to continuously monitor stress, strain profile and temperature profile during deformation; the second was designed specifically to investigate the thermal-instability strain ...

Torsional Constraints of DNA Substrates Impact Cas9 Cleavage

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2016
To examine the effect of the torsional constraints imposed on DNA substrates on Cas9 cleavage, we prepared constrained DNA substrates using a DNA origami frame. By fixing the dsDNA at the connectors of the DNA frame, we created torsionally constrained or relaxed substrates.

Seismic impact between adjacent torsionally coupled buildings

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 2019
Abstract The problem of seismic impact between torsionally coupled multi story moment frame buildings is investigated in this paper. Five pairs of adjacent structures spaced at various separation distances are considered. The buildings are 4–10 stories in height. Although a common plan being symmetric with regard to lateral stiffness is considered, a
