Flexural-torsional behavior of thin-walled closed-section composite box beams [PDF]
This paper presents a flexural–torsional analysis of composite box beams. A general analytical model applicable to thin-walled box section composite beams subjected to vertical and torsional load is developed.

Defect Detection using Power Spectrum of Torsional Waves in Guided-Wave Inspection of Pipelines
Ultrasonic Guided-wave (UGW) testing of pipelines allows long-range assessment of pipe integrity from a single point of inspection. This technology uses a number of arrays of transducers separated by a distance from each other to generate a single ...

TORSIONAL WAVE SCATTERING IN TWO-LAYER PIPE WITH ACCOUNT FOR CONTACT RIGIDITY
The purpose of the paper is to study the wave propagation in a two-layer pipe, taking into account the rigidity of the contact between its layers. It is considered by solving the equation of motion for the vector and scalar potentials.

Memory effect of the pp waves with torsion [PDF]
AbstractWe analyse the motion of test particles in the spacetime of the plane-fronted (pp) waves with torsion in four-dimensions. We conclude that there is a velocity memory effect in the direction of advanced time and along radial direction, while we have rotation of particles in angular direction.

Performance Study of a Torsional Wave Sensor and Cervical Tissue Characterization
A novel torsional wave sensor designed to characterize mechanical properties of soft tissues is presented in this work. Elastography is a widely used technique since the 1990s to map tissue stiffness. Moreover, quantitative elastography uses the velocity

On collective nature of non-linear torsional Alfvén waves
ABSTRACT Torsional Alfvén waves in coronal plasma loops are usually considered to be non-collective, i.e. consist of cylindrical surfaces evolving independently, which significantly complicates their detection in observations. This non-collective nature, however, can get modified in the non-linear regime.

Parametric Study of Defect Detection in Pipes with Bend Using Guided Ultrasonic Waves
The propagation behaviour of guided ultrasonic waves in a steel pipe with welded bend is studied by finite element simulation. The effectiveness of the longitudinal L(0,2) and torsional T(0,1) guided waves in detecting circumferential cut near the weld ...
