Total Counts of Bacterial Spores using Counting Slides [PDF]
SUMMARY: Total counts were made of bacterial spore suspensions using counting slides with chamber depths of 0·02 mm. and of 0·10 mm. Sources of error were analysed. In addition to an inherent sampling error, significant variation between counts on replicate slides may result from: (i) variation in the depth of different counting chambers, (ii ...

M1 AFLATOXIN, TOTAL BACTERIAL COUNT AND SOMATIC CELL COUNT IN ORGANIC AND CONVENTIONAL MILK
Comparative quality evaluation of organic and conventional milk produced in similar environmental condition was performed. Bulk-tank milk was sampled once a week during 30 weeks from 10 organic and 10 conventional dairy farms where aflatoxin M1 level was

Relationship of total bacterial and somatic cell counts with milk production and composition – multivariate analysis [PDF]
This study was realized to evaluate the monthly production, composition and quality of milk (total and defatted dry extract, lactose, fat and protein) and their relation to somatic cell count (SCC) and total bacterial count (TBC) using multivariate statistical analyses.

Quantitatively determining the total bacterial count of raw goat milk using dielectric spectra [PDF]
The objective of this study was to evaluate dielectric spectra as a means of quantitatively determining total bacterial count (TBC) of raw goat milk. The dielectric spectra, including dielectric constant (ε') spectra and dielectric loss factor (ε″) spectra, and TBC of 154 raw goat milk samples were measured using network analyzer and plate count ...

Total bacterial count and somatic cell count in refrigerated raw milk stored in communal tanks [PDF]
The current industry demand for dairy products with extended shelf life has resulted in new challenges for milk quality maintenance. The processing of milk with high bacterial counts compromises the quality and performance of industrial products.

Keeping Quality of Milk and the Age on Testing for Total Bacterial Count [PDF]
During the period 1923–29 inclusive nearly six thousand samples of milk were tested at Wye for both total bacterial count and also keeping quality. An examination of the results shows that on the average the afternoon milks showed nine hours less keeping quality than morning milks of the same total bacterial count, see Table I.

Short communication: Repeatability of differential goat bulk milk culture and associations with somatic cell count, total bacterial count, and standard plate count [PDF]
The aims of this study were to assess how different bacterial groups in bulk milk are related to bulk milk somatic cell count (SCC), bulk milk total bacterial count (TBC), and bulk milk standard plate count (SPC) and to measure the repeatability of bulk milk culturing.

Major Mammary Pathogens as Contributors to Total Bacterial Counts in Raw Milk [PDF]
The purpose of this study was to assess the contribution of major mammary pathogens, as well as of coliform and Gram-negative non-coliform bacteria to standard plate counts (SPCs) of bulk tank milk samples (BTMSs). Randomly selected anonymous BTMSs were collected from 268 dairy herds (with approximately 29,000 cows) in the Czech Republic during 2007 ...
