We aimed to compare fluid status as determined by multifrequency bioimpedance spectroscopy (MF-BIS, Xitron 4200, USA) with that determined by the isotope dilution method among a contemporary Chinese cohort.

Excessive fluid loss triggered by hyperbaric pressure, water immersion and hot water suits causes saturation divers to be at risk of dehydration. Dehydration is associated with reductions in mental and physical performance, resulting in less effective ...

Seasonal changes in total body water; body composition and water turnover in reindeer
Total body water and water turnover were measured at different times throughout the year in 3 captive Norwegian reindeer, using a tritiated water dilution method (Holleman et al. 1982).

Water Body Distributions Across Scales: A Remote Sensing Based Comparison of Three Arctic Tundra Wetlands [PDF]
Water bodies are ubiquitous features in Arctic wetlands. Ponds, i.e., waters with a surface area smaller than 104 m2, have been recognized as hotspots of biological activity and greenhouse gas emissions but are not well inventoried.

Mastalgia and total body water. [PDF]
Total body water (TBW) was measured early and late in a menstrual cycle in 56 women, 39 of whom had breast pain. The remainder were asymphtomatic controls. Most women did not conform to the traditional view that there is a premenstrual increase in TBW. In some TBW decreased, while in others there was no change from the early cycle measurement.

Validation of water flux and body composition in Glaucous gulls (Larus hyperboreus) [PDF]
Water influx rates (WIR) measured with tritiated water dilution were compared with direct measures of water and energy intake in glaucous gulls (Larus hyperboreus).

Total energy expenditure in obese Kuwaiti primary school children assessed by the doubly-labelled water technique [PDF]
The aim of this pilot study was to assess body composition and total energy expenditure (TEE) in 35 obese 7–9 years old Kuwaiti children (18 girls and 17 boys). Total body water (TBW) and TEE were assessed by doubly-labeled water technique.

Obesity and hypervolemic status are mainly one of causes of hypertension in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. However, it is difficult to assess these factors because changes in body weight (BW) in CKD patients are affected not only by muscle and ...

Background: Bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) is a non-invasive method used to measure fluid volumes. In this report, we compare BIS measurements from patients with heart failure (HF) to those from healthy adults, and describe how these point-of-care fluid
