A Bifunctional T3SS‐Effector Simultaneously Cleaves Host MAP Kinase and Inhibits PPM1A Phosphatase
Pathogenic bacteria exploit the metalloprotease effector NleD to subvert host defenses. Structural, biochemical, and infection analyses reveal a bifunctional mechanism by which NleD binds and inhibits the host phosphatase PPM1A while preserving its proteolytic activity against MAPKs.

RETREG1‐Mediated Reticulophagy is Essential for Dendritic Cell Maturation and Function in Sepsis
Reticulophagy regulator 1 (RETREG1) maintains dendritic cell (DC) maturation and function in early sepsis. Mechanistically, activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) acts as a direct transcription factor regulating RETREG1 expression in response to sepsis‐induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.

REDUCTION OF FAECAL MICROBIOLOGICAL INDICATORS IN DIFFERENT COMPOST TOILETS [PDF]
Large variations in numbers of faecal indicator bacteria were found irrespective of the storage time of collected human faeces. Little heat seemed generated from composting processes when bin units were stored locally in households.

ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.
