A Review of Total Harmonic Distortion Factors for the Measurement of Harmonic and Interharmonic Pollution in Modern Power Systems

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Harmonic distortion is one of the disturbances that most affects the quality of the electrical system. The widespread use of power electronic systems, especially power converters, has increased harmonic and interharmonic emission in a wide range of ...

A 3-to-5 V Input, 80 Peak-to-Peak Voltage (Vpp) Output, 2.75% Total Harmonic Distortion Plus Noise (THD+N), 2.9 μF Load Piezoelectric Actuator Driver with Four-Switch Buck–Boost [PDF]

open access: goldActuators, 2023
As human–computer interaction has become increasingly popular, haptic technology has become a research topic of great interest, since vibration perception, as a type of haptic feedback, can enhance user experience during an interaction. However, the high power consumption of existing drivers makes them unsuitable for use in portable devices.

Experimental evaluation and accuracy analysis of inductive current transformers under realistic nonlinear and harmonic-rich load conditions [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
This paper provides an experimental evaluation of two current transformers’ (CTs’) accuracy performance under linear and nonlinear load scenarios. Four performance indicators–measured RMS current, total harmonic distortion (THD), ratio error, and phase ...

Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) analysis utilizing the FFT capabilities of modern digital storage oscilloscopes

open access: green, 2022
This paper shows how to analyze Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) using the fast Fourier transformation (FFT) capability of low-cost digital sampling oscilloscopes. It was found that THD measurements using this method are accurate within less than a few percent of absolute error.

Analisis Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) dan Arus Harmonik Akibat Penggunaan Lampu Hemat Energi (LHE) dan Light-Emitting Diode (LED) secara Kolektif Pada Jaringan Tegangan Rendah

open access: diamondJurnal Fokus Elektroda : Energi Listrik, Telekomunikasi, Komputer, Elektronika dan Kendali), 2021
Currently, people are increasingly using energy saving lamp (LHE) and LED because of their energy saving and low power consumption. But the use of LHE and LED in large quantities can reduce the quality of electric power. This is because LHE and LED are classified as non-linear loads which are a source of harmonic distortion for low-voltage power lines.

Simulation of passive filter design to reduce Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) in Energy-Saving Lamps (LHE) and Light Emitting Diodes (LED)

open access: diamondIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2021
Abstract This paper discusses the design of a passive filter system for Energy-Saving Lamps (LHE) and Light Emitting Diodes (LED) using the MATLAB Simulink software. This type of lamp is a type of non-linear load that produces harmonics of current and voltage. However, this harmonic problem can be reduced using passive filters.

SIMULASI PENGGUNAAN FILTER AKTIF SHUNT DENGAN KONTROL PI UNTUK MEREDAM TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORTION (THD) PADA GEDUNG DH TEKNIK ELEKTRO UNIVERSITAS UDAYANA

open access: diamondJurnal SPEKTRUM, 2023
Every daily activity requires electrical energy. Electrical energy loads vary. Harmonic distortion is one of the results of current and voltage wave disturbances caused by non-linear loads, such as lamps, computers, and air conditioners, among others. This causes a decrease in the quality of electric power.

Determination of Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) on a 33kv Distribution Network: A Case Study of Island Business District

open access: goldNigerian Journal of Technology, 2015
Modern day AC power systems are proliferated by the introduction of several kinds of nonlinear loads which generate harmonics in a power system and this has a cumulative negative effect on power quality. Examples of nonlinear loads are power electronic devices, which cause distortion of voltage and current waveforms and consequently create a number of ...

RANCANG BANGUN FILTER PASIF UNTUK MEREDUKSI TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORTION (THD) AKIBAT PEMAKAIAN LAMPU HEMAT ENERGI (LHE) DAN LIGHT EMITTING DIODE (LED)

open access: hybridLektrokom : Jurnal Ilmiah Teknik Elektro, 2021
This paper discusses the design of a passive filter system for energy saving in Energy Saving Lamps (LHE) and Light Emitting Diode (LED), but for LHE and LED lamps for current Total Harmonic Distortion (THDi) that do not meet the standard. To reduce the current THD, it can be done by installing a single tune passive filter.””In this paper, we discuss ...
