Applying Ultrasound to Mechanically and Noninvasively Sensitize Prostate Tumors to TRAIL‐Mediated Apoptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores the application of therapeutic, focal ultrasound to noninvasively enhance the anti‐cancer effects of Tumor necrosis factor‐related apoptosis‐inducing ligand (TRAIL) as a targeted treatment for prostate cancer. This is achieved by mechanically activating mechanosensitive ion channels within cancer cells.

Efecto de una dosis de lidocaína y ketamina sobre el consumo intraoperatorio de opioides en pacientes sometidas a cirugía ginecológica electiva bajo anestesia general. Estudio piloto aleatorizado y controlado con placebo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background and goal of study: there is evidence that perioperative intravenous ketamine and lidocaine reduce postoperative pain, postoperative opioids consumption, shortens hospital stay and accelerates intestinal function recovery.

Cubic Phase‐Inducible Zwitterionic Phospholipids Improve the Functional Delivery of mRNA

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, a chemically engineered zwitterionic phospholipids derived from 1,2‐dioleoyl‐3‐sn‐glycero‐phosphoethanolamine (DOPE), DOPE‐Cx, are designed. The DOPE‐Cx lipids induce a cubic phase upon mixing with phosphatidylcholine, facilitate membrane fusion‐mediated endosomal escape, and enhance the functional delivery of mRNA.

Citrullination of NF‐κB p65 by PAD2 as a Novel Therapeutic Target for Modulating Macrophage Polarization in Acute Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Peptidyl arginine deiminase 2 (PAD2) plays a key role in regulating macrophage function in Pseudomonas aeruginosa‐induced acute lung injury (ALI). Using single‐cell RNA sequencing and proteomics, a new PAD2‐catalyzed citrullination site on NF‐κB p65 (171 Arginine), modulating macrophage polarization is identified.

A Hf(IV)‐Coordinated NIR‐II Fluorescence “Turn‐On” Nanoprobe for Precise Imaging‐Guided Surgery in Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on the FDA‐approved fluorescent dye ICG, a Hf(IV)‐coordinated NIR‐II fluorescence “turn‐on” nanoprobe is constructed. This ultrasensitive nanoprobe can effectively accumulate in tumor sites and recover the fluorescence of ICG specifically in tumor microenvironment, accurately identifying submillimeter‐sized tumors with high sensitivity for real ...

Postoperative delirium after major orthopedic surgery. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND: Postoperative delirium (POD) is one of the most common complications in older adult patients undergoing elective surgery. Few studies have compared, within the same institution, the type of surgery, risk factors and type of anesthesia and ...

LINC01235 Promotes Clonal Evolution through DNA Replication Licensing‐Induced Chromosomal Instability in Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates the mechanism underlying LINC01235 promotes clonal evolution and selection under treatment pressure by facilitating DNA replication licensing and CIN, leading to increased therapeutic resistance in HER2+ breast cancer. Targeting LINC01235‐related pathways with ATR inhibitors may be a viable strategy for clinical application ...

Reprogramming Lung Redox Homeostasis by NIR Driven Ultra‐Small Pd Loaded Covalent Organic Framework Inhibits NF‐κB Pathway for Acute Lung Injury Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The strategy of ultra‐small Pd loaded covalent organic framework combined with NIR irradiation (TP@Pd+NIR) is developed to reprogram lung redox homeostasis for the synergistic enhancement of acute lung injury immunotherapy via ROS scavenging, M2 directional polarization, NF‐κB pathway inhibition as well as tissue repair acceleration.
