A study on protein nitrogen and total nitrogen values of various food extracts

Journal of Allergy, 1954
I N ACCORDANCE with the standardization procedure proposed by Cooke and Stulll> 2 for pollen extracts, all pollen and inhalant extracts prepared in this laboratory are standardized on their proetin nitrogen basis.” In the case of food extracts, it was formerly believed that protein represented as a rule at least 90 per cent of the total nitrogen value ...

Prediction of total urinary nitrogen from urea nitrogen for burned patients

Journal of the American Dietetic Association, 1985
Although many of the current nutrition assessment techniques are inappropriate for burned patients, we have found nitrogen balance to be a helpful measure of the effectiveness of nutrition therapy if it is used in conjunction with other measures of nutritional status.

An ultramicromethod of determining the total nitrogen

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1959
The author describes the ultramicromethod in total nitrogen determination which makes it possible to analyze histological tissue sections (20 to 30 μ thick and with the area of 1–2 mm2) to within the accuracy limits of ±5–6% with the total nitrogen content in them comprising 0.5–10±5–6%.

A total body nitrogen facility for paediatric use

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1991
The design, calibration and evaluation of a facility for in vivo prompt gamma neutron capture analysis of total body nitrogen in children is described. The patient is scanned in both supine and prone positions, across a vertically collimated beam from a 1 GBq 252Cf fission source.

Increased abundance of nitrogen transforming bacteria by higher C/N ratio reduces the total losses of N and C in chicken manure and corn stover mix composting.

Bioresource Technology, 2019
The aim of this work was to investigate how the initial C/N ratio during composting of chicken manure/corn stover mix affected the succession of dominant bacteria in the mix which led to the reduction of the total losses of N and C in the composting ...

Hydrogen background in total body nitrogen estimations

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1995
Total body nitrogen (TBN) is measured by in vivo prompt gamma neutron capture analysis. Usually the background under the nitrogen peak is subtracted before calculating TBN from the ratio of nitrogen counts (at 10.8 MeV) to hydrogen counts (at 2.2 MeV). The hydrogen acts as an internal standard. The background under the hydrogen peak is usually ignored.

Total Carbon and Nitrogen Abundances in Lunar Samples

Science, 1970
Total carbon and nitrogen abundances were determined by using combustion-gas chromatographic techniques. Weighted mean analyses for bulk fines were 225 and 140 ppm total carbon and 150 and 100 ppm total nitrogen. Total carbon in fine breccia was 230 ppm; in coarse breccia, 100 ppm; in fine-grained rock, 70 ppm; and in medium-grained rock, 64 ppm.
