Determination of Total Nitrogen in Fertilizers

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1965
Abstract Five methods, AOAC 2.037, 2.039, modified reduced iron, chromium powder, and Raney nickel catalyst powder for the determination of total nitrogen in fertilizers, were submitted to collaborators for study. Twelve laboratories participated and completed the work. No one method was “best.” The modified reduced iron, chromium powder,

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Impactul diferitor sisteme de fertilizare asupra conţinutului azotului total, proteic şi neproteic al plantelor cultivate în asolament pe cernoziom tipic

open access: yesAgricultural Science, 2013
The aim of our researches was to compare the impact of two fertilization systems on the concentration of total, protein and nonprotein nitrogen in plants.

Total Nitrogen

open access: yes
The following information provides general guidelines for the analysis of Kjeldahl nitrogen according to the direct distillation method. The procedure described is applicable to all sample types. When a solid sample in an alkaline solution is steam distilled, some of the nitrogen in the proteins will be converted to ammonia.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Effects of Long-Term Winter Planted Green Manure on Distribution and Storage of Organic Carbon and Nitrogen in Water-Stable Aggregates of Reddish Paddy Soil Under a Double-Rice Cropping System

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2014
In agricultural systems, maintenance of soil organic matter has long been recognized as a strategy to reduce soil degradation. Manure amendments and green manures are management practices that can increase some nutrient contents and improve soil ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Benthic fluxes of dissolved organic nitrogen in the Lower St. Lawrence Estuary and implications for selective organic matter degradation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The distribution of dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) and carbon (DOC) in sediment porewaters was determined at nine locations along the St. Lawrence estuary and in the gulf of St. Lawrence. In a previous manuscript (Alkhatib et al., 2012a), we have shown
