Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

International audienceThe Total Organic Carbon (TOC) content of the Gargasian strata studied in their historical stratotype area is rather low (0.3% on average). Only a few levels show TOC values approaching 1.2%.

Comparison of indices for the prediction of nitrogen mineralization after destruction of managed grassland [PDF]
Intensively managed grasslands are occasionally chemically killed with herbicide and ploughed in order to grow an arable crop. After this management, large N mineralization rates with large losses to the environment are commonly observed.

Total Organic Carbon and Total Nitrogen Contents in Lake Sediment as a Proxies of Paleoclimate

INTERPRETING 14C AGES OF THE TOTAL ORGANIC CARBON CONTENT OF PREHISTORIC POTTERY

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Near infrared spectroscopy for predicting quality indices in the organic fertiliser industry [PDF]
The carbon to nitrogen (C/N) ratio can provide information on the capacity of an organic input to be transformed into humus [1 - 3], but it is not sufficient in some cases [4].

This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Cumulative Effect of the Application of N and P Fertilizers on Soil Total and Labile Concentrations After 12 Cereal Crops on a Black Vertosol [PDF]
Soil organic carbon is commonly used as a key indicator of sustainability of farming systems due to effects on nutrient availability, structural stability and its central role in soil biotic processes.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...
