Effects of Organic–Inorganic Nitrogen Deposition on Element Content and Stoichiometric Ratios in the Rhizospheric Soil of Torreya grandis

open access: yesHorticulturae
The deposition of atmospheric nitrogen (N) includes organic N (ON) and inorganic N (IN). The effect of varying ON:IN ratios on the elemental composition in the root zone of T. grandis remains poorly understood.

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Total phosphorus and phosphorus forms change in sediments along the Tone River

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
Phosphorus (P) is an essential element for the metabolism, growth, and development of living organisms, and it often limits primary production in freshwater ecosystems. During flood events, rivers can transport considerable amounts of particulate organic

Receptor‐Free Identification of Toxic Gases Enabled by Hygroscopic Aqueous Salt Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Water as a gas sensor coating sounds impossible—until it stops evaporating. Here, hygroscopic salt solutions (LiCl, LiBr, H3PO4) form non‐drying aqueous films on CNT chemiresistors under ambient air. Gases partition into these liquid layers, sometimes transforming into water, and generate salt‐specific resistance fingerprints across a four‐channel ...

Mass balance of total phosphorus in the Izmit Bay

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 1995
Elements needed to obtain mass balance of a nutrient in a coastal sea by direct methods are: movement of water masses (current field), estimates of location and intensity of all major nutrient sources, estimate of nutrient inflow from the neighboring sea and a reliable estimate of the nutrient extinction in the water column.

Solution‐Processed Two‐Dimensional Indium Oxide on Sodium‐Embedded Alumina for Reconfigurable Optoelectronic Synaptic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wafer‐scale two‐dimensioanl In2Se3 oxidized into InOx on sodium‐embedded beta‐alumina enables multifunctional reconfigurable electronics. Sodium ions accumulate within distinct spatial distribution under drain‐controlle and gate‐controlled operation. Drain‐control operation gives controllability of ultraviolet‐driven optoelectronic synaptic conductance
