Analysis and evaluation of sediment pollutants of Euphrates River at Al-Nasiriyah city, south of Iraq

open access: yesمجلة علوم ذي قار, 2023
In this work, total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN) and organic matter (OM) were detected in the sediment of Euphrates River in different period’s time. Then we did the analysis and the characterization of these pollutants for this river.

SEDIMENTS AND NUTRIENT DYNAMICS IN THE LAKE MARKERMEER, THE NETHERLANDS

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemistry, 2010
Lake Markermeer is a large fresh water lake in the centre of the Netherlands. Since Lake Markermeer is categorised as a shallow lake, it is very susceptible for sediment resuspension.

Temporal and spatial variation of limnological variables and biomass of different macrophyte species in a Neotropical reservoir (São Paulo - Brazil) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aim: This study reports an investigation of limnological characteristics and aquatic macrophyte occurrence in a neotropical reservoir in order to assess the spatio-temporal variation of water and sediment variables and their influence on plant ...

Long-term improvement of sediment in situ restoration and REDOX characteristics by Vallisneria natans coupling with carbon fiber

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2023
China is conducting ecological restoration work in urban water bodies. Under anoxic and anaerobic conditions, pollutants transform and produce odorous and black substances, deteriorating the water quality, which is a significant problem in urban water ...

New organic matter degradation proxies: Valid in lake systems? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We determined concentrations and diagenetic state of organic matter in two cores from Lake Zug, Switzerland. To obtain a general picture of organic matter decay in the lake, we measured bulk parameters such as total organic carbon, total nitrogen, and ...

Influence of Beach Slope on Morphological Changes and Sediment Transport under Irregular Waves

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
This paper presents new data from large-scale wave flume experiments. It shows the beach profile evolution and sediment transport for two different bed slopes (1:15 and 1:25), and three irregular high-energy erosive wave conditions and one low-energy ...

Propagation and deposition of stony debris flows at channel confluences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The fluid dynamics of stony debris flows generated in two small tributaries adjacent to each other and flowing into a main receiving channel was analyzed experimentally at a laboratory scale.

Vegetation characteristics control local sediment and nutrient retention on but not underneath vegetation in floodplain meadows.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Sediment and nutrient retention are essential ecosystem functions that floodplains provide and that improve river water quality. During floods, the floodplain vegetation retains sediment, which settles on plant surfaces and the soil underneath plants ...

Study on the effect and influencing factors of sand discharge of Xiluodu Reservoir in the Lower Jinsha River

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2021
The Lower Jinsha River is an important sediment-producing and sediment-transporting area in the Yangtze River basin. Since 2013, the third level Xiluodu Reservoir (XLDR) has directly intercepted the sediment of the Jinsha River, and its sediment ...
