In this note we prove that the Heisenberg group with a left-invariant pseudo-Riemannian metric admits a completely integrable totally geodesic distribution of codimension 1. This is on the contrary to the Riemannian case, as it was proved by T. Hangan.

Hurricane‐induced risk contagion in commercial real estate: Evidence from Hurricane Sandy
Abstract This study examines how hurricane‐induced destruction affects the prices of nearby undamaged commercial real estate properties, using Hurricane Sandy as a natural experiment. Using Real Capital Analytics transaction records spatially merged with Federal Emergency Management Agency building‐level damage data, we empirically employ a difference ...

Lightlike Submanifolds of a Semi-Riemannian Manifold of Quasi-Constant Curvature
We study the geometry of lightlike submanifolds (𝑀,𝑔,𝑆(𝑇𝑀),𝑆(𝑇𝑀⟂)) of a semi-Riemannian manifold (𝑀,̃𝑔) of quasiconstant curvature subject to the following conditions: (1) the curvature vector field ζ of 𝑀 is tangent to 𝑀, (2) the screen distribution 𝑆(

Reliable estimates of species distributions are crucial for understanding their conservation needs. Yet for many species, IUCN largely relies on expert‐drawn ranges, which are often inaccurate. Focusing on shieldtail snakes in peninsular India, we combined citizen science, literature, field, and museum records to create improved distribution maps for ...

On minimal hypersurfaces of nonnegatively Ricci curved manifolds
We consider a complete open riemannian manifold M of nonnegative Ricci curvature and a rectifiable hypersurface ∑ in M which satisfies some local minimizing property. We prove a structure theorem for M and a regularity theorem for ∑.

Compressing totally geodesic surfaces
In this paper we prove that one can find surgeries arbitrarily close to infinity in the Dehn surgery space of the figure eight knot complement for which some immersed totally geodesic surface compresses.

ABSTRACT Cremation became the dominant funerary practice in the Middle Danube Region during the Roman Period (RP) (1st–4th century) and reappeared in the Early Medieval Ages (EMA) (6th/7th–8th century). This study aims to reconstruct differences in cremation conditions from the Gbely‐Kojatín site (Slovakia, RP and EMA) and the Přítluky site (Czech ...

ABSTRACT The discovery of archaeological sites traditionally entails the utilisation of physically demanding exploration methodologies, including terrain surveying and the analysis of historical records. Recent technological developments have led to an increased use of non‐invasive remote sensing techniques, including Google Earth, LiDAR and aerial ...
