Wind-induced Vibration Optimal Control for Long Span Transmission Tower-line System [PDF]

open access: yesThe Open Civil Engineering Journal, 2013
In this paper, tuned mass dampers with optimal parameters for long span transmission tower-line system are investigated. Equations of motion for a structure-TMD system are derived, and the parameters of TMD, stiffness and damping are optimized, respectively. According to a real project, three-dimensional finite element models of both transmission tower

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Collapse Mechanism of Transmission Tower Subjected to Strong Wind Load and Dynamic Response of Tower-Line System

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Transmission towers are prone to collapse under strong wind load, resulting in significant economic losses. In order to investigate the collapse mechanism and failure modes of the transmission tower under strong wind load and whether the wind vibration ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Study on the Multi-Hazard Responses of Transmission Tower-Line Systems Under Fire and Wind Loads Using ABAQUS

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Transmission lines are usually located outdoors and are subjected to wind loads year-round. When a fire occurs, transmission towers are exposed to the combined effects of fire and wind loads. This paper investigates the impact of high temperatures on the

Lightning Current Measurement Form and Arrangement Scheme of Transmission Line Based on Point-Type Optical Current Transducer

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Lightning strikes are the main cause of transmission line faults, and the accurate lightning current number is an important basis to guide scientific lightning protection.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Flare-induced changes of the photospheric magnetic field in a $\delta$-spot deduced from ground-based observations

open access: yes, 2017
Aims: Changes of the magnetic field and the line-of-sight velocities in the photosphere are being reported for an M-class flare that originated at a $\delta$-spot belonging to active region NOAA 11865.
