Algal and Fungal Antioxidants Alleviate Oxidative Stress‐Induced Reproductive Defects

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2025.
In the in vivo models, fungi and/or algae‐derived metabolites (polysaccharides, carotenoids, ergothioneine, phycobiliproteins, phlorotannins, and cordycepin) correct the impaired reproductive functions in males and/or females by increasing antioxidant enzyme activities, decreasing oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis, alleviating ovarian and ...

Toxoplasma gondii TgIST co-opts host chromatin repressors dampening STAT1-dependent gene regulation and IFN-γ–mediated host defenses

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 2016
Gay et al. identify a Toxoplasma gondii secreted effector that recruits NuRD transcriptional repressor and blocks IFN-γ–stimulated STAT1-dependent gene expression, thus dampening host responses to infection.

Stillbirth Caused by Vitamin A Deficiency in Captive African Lion Cubs (Panthera leo)

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2025.
Stillbirth caused by vitamin A deficiency in two African lion cubs. A 15‐year‐old captive lioness mated with a 12‐year‐old male lion and was fed about 4 kg of lean beef daily, without any supplements. Necropsy revealed diffuse congestion and haemorrhage in several organs.

Pathological and Molecular Studies of Neospora caninum Infection in Aborted Bovine Foetuses in Khorasan Razavi Province, Iran

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2025.
Aborted bovine foetuses were collected from dairy cattle in Khorasan Razavi province. Brain samples of aborted foetuses were tested to detect N.caninum infection using nested PCR and histopathological examination. In addition, blood samples were collected from dairy cattle that had aborted PCR‐positive foetuses and were analysed using ELISA .

Investigation of anti-toxoplasma gondii antibodies in cats using sabin-feldman dye test in elazığ [PDF]

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Veterinary Sciences
This study was carried out in cats in Elazığ. A total of 36 eats were examined for the presence of anti-Toxoplasma gondii antibodies using Sabin-Feldman dye test (SF). Anti-Toxoplasma gondii antibodies were detected in 20 (55.5%) of the cats. Titers of 1/

Host lipid droplets: An important source of lipids salvaged by the intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2017
Toxoplasma is an obligate intracellular parasite that replicates in mammalian cells within a parasitophorous vacuole (PV) that does not fuse with any host organelles.

Zoonotic Abortifacient Agents in Bovine Abortion: Diagnostic Assessment of 125 Cases (2015‐2017)

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2025.
This study aimed to investigate the presence of Campylobacter spp., Coxiella burnetii, Brucella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Chlamydia abortus, and Cache Valley virus in bovine foetuses in Türkiye. Brucella spp., Campylobacter spp. and Coxiella burnetii were detected in 19 (15.2%), 4 (3.2%) and 2 (1.6%) of the bovine foetuses, respectively.

A conserved ankyrin repeat-containing protein regulates conoid stability, motility and cell invasion in Toxoplasma gondii

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Apicomplexan parasites are typified by an apical complex that contains a unique microtubule-organizing center (MTOC) that organizes the cytoskeleton. In apicomplexan parasites such as Toxoplasma gondii, the apical complex includes a spiral cap of tubulin-
