Limosilactobacillus reuteri‐Fusobacterium nucleatum Interactions Modulate Biofilm Composition and Immunogenicity

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, Volume 60, Issue 10, Page 1006-1017, October 2025.
The coaggregation between L. reuteri and F. nucleatum modulates its immunogenicity and affects the latter's ability to coaggregate with late colonizers, altering the biofilm composition. ABSTRACT Aim The interactions between Limosilactobacillus reuteri and oral bacteria are poorly understood.

Low doses of widely consumed cannabinoids (cannabidiol and cannabidivarin) cause DNA damage and chromosomal aberrations in human-derived cells

open access: yesArchives of Toxicology, 2018
Cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabidivarin (CBDV) are natural cannabinoids which are consumed in increasing amounts worldwide in cannabis extracts, as they prevent epilepsy, anxiety, and seizures.

Advantages of horizontal centrifugation of platelet‐rich fibrin in regenerative medicine and dentistry

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, Volume 99, Issue 1, Page 216-267, October 2025.
Abstract The aim of this comprehensive review was to evaluate comparative studies on horizontal and fixed‐angle centrifugation methods for preparing platelet‐rich fibrin (PRF). Furthermore, additional studies utilizing horizontal PRF (H‐PRF) were systematically investigated.

Silver Nanoparticles Synthesized From Centella asiatica Extract and Asiatic Acid for Enhanced Biofilm Eradication of Streptococcus Associated With Oral Diseases

open access: yesScientifica, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The biofilm‐forming ability of Streptococcus species, particularly Streptococcus mutans, is a key factor in the pathogenesis of dental caries and periodontitis. Current treatments often exhibit limitations such as incomplete biofilm eradication and cytotoxicity to host tissues, highlighting the need for innovative and biocompatible therapeutic ...

In vitro Models for Predicting Bioadhesion Fracture Strength to Ex Vivo Animal Buccal Tissue

open access: yesSmall, Volume 20, Issue 40, October 3, 2024.
A new in vitro method is introduced for measuring bioadhesion fracture strength comparable to ex vivo porcine tissues. The model is based on epithelial TR146 cells and can measure the bioadhesion between two soft materials. Moreover, the bioadhesive properties of porcine buccal and esophageal tissues are compared.

Transfer of captured HIV-1 from epithelial cells to permissive cells via cell-cell contact.

open access: yes, 2014
TR146, FaDu and A431 cells were incubated with R5 (YU2) and LAI (X4) virus for 24 h and following extensive washing TZM-bl indicator cells were added for a further 48 h. Controls included FaDu, TR146 and A431 cells without the addition of virus. Data are

Biofabrication Strategies for Oral Soft Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 13, Issue 18, July 17, 2024.
Gingival recession, a prevalent condition affecting the gum tissues, is characterized by the exposure of tooth root surfaces. This review explores conventional treatments, highlighting their limitations and the quest for innovative alternatives. Importantly, the parallels between the skin and gingival tissues are highlighted, exploring the potential ...

RFX transcription factor in the human‐associated yeast Candida albicans regulates adhesion to oral epithelium

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, Volume 121, Issue 4, Page 727-741, April 2024.
The regulatory factor X (RFX) gene family comprises a diverse group of transcriptional regulators with a unique winged‐helix DNA binding domain. In contrast to model yeasts that harbor a single RFX gene, the genome of the pathogenic yeast C. albicans encodes two RFX homologs.

S100A8/A9 suppressed anchorage-dependent and -independent growth of KB cells.

open access: yes, 2013
(A) Growth curves of KB-S100A8/A9 cells compared to KB-EGFP and KB wild-type control cells. Cells were grown on non-pyrogenic polystyrene tissue flasks in fresh MEM supplemented with 10% FBS every three days. (B) Anchorage-independent growth in soft agar

Understanding exosomes: Part 3—therapeutic + diagnostic potential in dentistry

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, Volume 94, Issue 1, Page 415-482, February 2024.
Abstract Exosomes are the smallest subset of extracellular signaling vesicles secreted by most cells with the ability to communicate with other tissues and cell types over long distances. Their use in regenerative medicine has gained tremendous momentum recently due to their ability to be utilized as therapeutic options for a wide array of various ...
