Visualization of hyaluronic acid in the anterior segment of rabbit and monkey eyes
Hyaluronic acid was visualized using a new histochemical technique: the hyaluronic acid-binding region of the cartilage proteoglycan was isolated, linked with biotin and used in histological sections as a ligand for hyaluronic acid.

The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

Oral cyclosporine therapy for refractory severe vernal keratoconjunctivitis
We report the success of oral cyclosporine therapy in a patient with severe vision-threatening vernal keratoconjunctivitis. A child presented with severe allergy which was not controlled with topical steroids, cyclosporine and mast cell stabilizers. Oral

A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.

Multiscale modelling of trabecular bone: from micro to macroscale [PDF]
Trabecular bone has a complex and porous microstructure. This study develops approaches to determine the mechanical behaviour of this material at the macroscopic level through the use of homogenisation-based multiscale methods using micro-finite ...

Multiple live subconjunctival dipetalonema: Report of a case
Parasitic infestations of the eye have been reported since centuries, affecting various parts of the eye. Some are subtle, coexisting with vision, while many others damage and destroy, in part or totally, the gift of sight.

A human 3D bone niche integrating osteoblasts and osteoclasts enables co‐culture with prostate cancer cell lines and patient‐derived organoids. The engineered niche (i) models aspects of reciprocal phenotypic regulation between osteoblasts and cancer cells, (ii) captures osteoclast‐enhanced osteomimicry in tumor cells, and (iii) establishes a ...

Local origins impart conserved bone type-related differences in human osteoblast behaviour [PDF]
Osteogenic behaviour of osteoblasts from trabecular, cortical and subchondral bone were examined to determine any bone type-selective differences in samples from both osteoarthritic (OA) and osteoporotic (OP) patients.
