Koplienko Trace Formula

open access: yes, 2012
Koplienko gave a trace formula for perturbations of self-adjoint operators by operators of Hilbert-Schmidt class $\mathcal{B}_2(\mathcal{H})$. Recently Gesztesy, Pushnitski and Simon gave an alternative proof of the trace formula when the operators ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Postcards from Chile and Images from an Archive: Lighting the Nitrate of the 1973 Coup

open access: yesHumanities, 2018
This article examines a mass produced postcard image as a picture of conflict. It considers the postcard as a Benjaminian ‘prismatic fringe’ through which an archive can be viewed, wherein documents of the British trade in Chilean nitrate are

Trace conditioning in insects—keep the trace! [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2013
Trace conditioning is a form of associative learning that can be induced by presenting a conditioned stimulus (CS) and an unconditioned stimulus (US) following each other, but separated by a temporal gap. This gap distinguishes trace conditioning from classical delay conditioning, where the CS and US overlap.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Machine learning progressive CKD risk prediction model is associated with CKD-mineral bone disorder

open access: yesBone Reports
Background: Recently, we developed the machine learning (ML)-based Progressive CKD Risk Classifier (PCRC), which accurately predicts CKD progression within 5 years.

Ultimate Traces of Cellular Automata [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A cellular automaton (CA) is a parallel synchronous computing model, which consists in a juxtaposition of finite automata (cells) whose state evolves according to that of their neighbors.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Encrypted Traffic Classification Based on Unsupervised Learning in Cellular Radio Access Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Traffic classification will be a key aspect in the operation of future 5G cellular networks, where services of very different nature will coexist. Unfortunately, data encryption makes this task very difficult.
