In situ polymerized ionic liquids in polyester fiber composite membranes for detection of trace oil

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: In situ trace detection on ultra-clean surfaces is an important technology. The polyester fiber (PF) was introduced to serve as the template, to which the ionic liquids were bonded by hydrogen bonding.

Investigating the Binding Heterogeneity of Trace Metal Cations With SiO2 Nanoparticles Using Full Wave Analysis of Stripping Chronopotentiometry at Scanned Deposition Potential

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
Silica oxides nano- and microparticles, as well as silica-based materials, are very abundant in nature and industrial processes. Trace metal cation binding with these bulk materials is generally not considered significant in speciation studies in ...

Temporal and Cross-Regional Variability in the Level of Air Pollution in Poland—A Study Using Moss as a Bioindicator

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
This study assessed recent (2015) and past (2001) levels of air pollution in four regions of Poland by moss monitoring. The surveyed regions encompassed, among others, copper and zinc-lead industrial districts, large urban agglomerations and an area away

Relationship between biological characteristics of fish and their contamination with trace metals: a case study of perch Perca fluviatilis L. in the Baltic Sea; pp. 193–201 [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, 2013
Biological characteristics of fish are expected to affect the bioaccumulation patterns of trace metals in aquatic organisms. Nonetheless, this topic is relatively unstudied among fish species.

Trace Metal Residues in Swimming Warrior Crab Callinectes bellicosus: A Consumption Risk

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2021
This study was carried out in the Navachiste coastal lagoon, Mexico, surrounded by intensive agricultural and aquaculture activities that cause environmental pollution by the deposition of trace metal residues in the sediments of this coastal lagoon. The

Highly efficient removal of trace metal ions by using poly(acrylic acid) hydrogel adsorbent

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2019
Hydrogels as metal ions adsorbents are commonly applied in wastewater treatment field. However, low swelling ratio (SR) of ever reported hydrogel adsorbents prevents adsorptive sites from effectively exposing to metal ions, leading to unpleasant removal ...

Trace metal distributions in the transition zone from the Greenland Ice Sheet to the surface water in Kangerlussuaq fjord (67° N) [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere
Glacial rock flour (GRF), an ultra-fine sediment formed beneath glaciers, contains high concentrations of silicate and trace metals, including iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn).

A Room-Temperature High-Conductivity Metal Printing Paradigm with Visible-Light Projection Lithography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Fabricating electronic devices require integrating metallic conductors and polymeric insulators in complex structures. Current metal-patterning methods such as evaporation and laser sintering require vacuum, multistep processes, and high temperature ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
