Abstract The effect of large-scale variation in the support stiffness on railway track degradation is studied using a frequency-domain approach. The model used can deal with parametric excitation due to both the discrete sleeper spacing and arbitrary large-scale spatial track non-uniformity.

Abstract The effect of using a novel additional anti-vibration sleeper track (AAST) to reduce low-frequency vibrations (40–80 Hz) is investigated via numerical and field tests. A computational model is used to investigate the effects of sleeper spacing and track support stiffness. To verify the performance of the AAST, a field test was performed. The

Train-induced ground vibration can be excited by wheel and track irregularities and by two kinds of irregularities of the soil, by geometric irregularities or by the spatially varying soil stiffness. For both types of irregularities, the effective track irregularity on top of the track is calculated in wavenumber domain and with wavenumber integrals ...

Evaluation of Track Support Stiffness and Track Impact factor for Ballast and Concrete Type Tracks
Journal of the Korean Society for Railway,

To improve the low-frequency vibration reduction effect of a steel spring floating slab track (FST), nonlinear quasi-zero-stiffness (QZS) vibration isolators composed of positive stiffness elements (PSEs) and negative stiffness elements (NSEs) were used to support the FST. First, considering the mechanical characteristics of the nonlinear QZS vibration
