A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

A Novel Peptide from VP1 of EV-D68 Exhibits Broad-Spectrum Antiviral Activity Against Human Enteroviruses

open access: yesBiomolecules
Enteroviruses have been a historical concern since the identification of polioviruses in humans. Wild polioviruses have almost been eliminated, while multiple species of non-polio enteroviruses and their variants co-circulate annually.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Comparing the Visual Perception According to the Performance Using the Eye-Tracking Technology in High-Fidelity Simulation Settings

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences, 2021
Introduction: We used eye-tracking technology to explore the visual perception of clinicians during a high-fidelity simulation scenario. We hypothesized that physicians who were able to successfully manage a critical situation would have a different ...

Towards Understanding the Impact of Real-Time AI-Powered Educational Dashboards (RAED) on Providing Guidance to Instructors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The objectives of this ongoing research are to build Real-Time AI-Powered Educational Dashboard (RAED) as a decision support tool for instructors, and to measure its impact on them while making decisions. Current developments in AI can be combined with the educational dashboards to make them AI-Powered.

On the optimal allocation of students when peer effect works: Tracking vs Mixing [PDF]

open access: yes
The belief that both the behavior and outcomes of students are affected by their peers is important in shaping education policy. I analyze two polar education systems -tracking and mixing- and propose several criteria for their comparison.

Expectations on Track? High School Tracking and Adolescent Educational Expectations [PDF]

open access: yesSocial Forces, 2015
This paper examines the role of adaptation in expectation formation processes by analyzing how educational tracking in high schools affects adolescents’ educational expectations. I argue that adolescents view track placement as a signal about their academic abilities and respond to it in terms of modifying their educational expectations.
