INAA applied to Tradescantia pallida plant study for environmental pollution monitoring

Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 2003
In this study, INAA was applied to analyse T. pallida plant in order to establish an adequate protocol for its sampling and treatment and so that it can be used for further environmental biomonitoring. Concentrations of most elements obtained in leaves, stems and flowers plus peduncles separately were found to have the same magnitude.

Biomonitoring the genotoxic effects of pollutants on Tradescantia pallida (Rose) D.R. Hunt in Dourados, Brazil

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2011
This study aimed to associate the intensity of vehicular traffic in the city of Dourados (Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil) with mutagenic effects and alterations in leaf physiology as measured by the quantity of micronuclei and the leaf surface parameters of Tradescantia pallida.Five collections of inflorescences were undertaken for 24 weeks to ...

Tradescantia pallida cv. purpurea Boom in the Characterization of Air Pollution by Accumulation of Trace Elements

Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association, 2003
Tradescantia pallida cv. purpurea, a plant species widely employed for ornamentation in Brazil, has been successfully used for monitoring the genotoxicity of various agents by the micronucleus assay. To amplify knowledge about its suitability as a bioindicator species, its capacity for accumulating trace elements from urban air pollution was evaluated.
