Multi‐Omics Insights Into Anthraquinone Biosynthesis in Rheum tanguticum

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rheum tanguticum is renowned for its medicinal properties, including purgative, anti‐inflammatory and hepatoprotective effects, primarily attributed to anthraquinones (AQs). However, the molecular mechanisms of AQs biosynthesis have largely been hindered by insufficient genomic resources and functional genomics investigations.

Structural Elucidation and Engineering of the (S)‐scoulerine 2‐O‐Methyltransferase Enabling Regioselective Epiberberine Biosynthesis in Coptis chinensis

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Protoberberine alkaloids are a characteristic group of natural products in Coptis plants known for their notable pharmacological activities. However, the structural similarity and the substrate promiscuity of their biosynthetic enzymes have left the precise synthetic pathways remain unclarified, posing challenges to regulate product formation.

Mechanisms of Gui Zhi Fu Ling Formula in Liver Fibrosis: Metabolomics and Gut Microbiota Analysis

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
Our study was based on the efficacy of the phenotype in an animal model and used multi‐omics to explore the mechanism of action of the compound. We found that Gui Zhi Fu Ling Formula may ameliorate hepatic fibrosis potentially associated with increased hepatic EPA and the expression of gut Pseudomonas.

Cancer IDO1‐Mediated Tryptophan–Kynurenine Metabolic Reprogramming to Drive Skeletal Muscle Atrophy and Cachexia Acceleration

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cancer cachexia is a debilitating syndrome characterized by severe skeletal muscle wasting, which significantly impairs patient quality of life and survival. Indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase 1 (IDO1), a key enzyme in tryptophan (Trp) metabolism, is often upregulated in cancers, but its specific role in driving lung cancer–associated ...
