International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition, 1977Food customs and nutritional deficiencies resulting from such customs of Asians living in Great Britain are reviewed. Food taboos and fasting practices of Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism are pointed out. The Asian customs of dress and preference for avoiding direct sunlight contribute to development of rickets and osteomalacia.
