Traffic stops do not prevent traffic deaths
Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, 2021OBJECTIVES Amid growing calls for police reform, it is imperative to reassess whether police actions designed to improve public safety are associated with injury prevention. This study aims to examine the relationship between the police traffic stops (PTSs) and motor vehicle crash (MVC) deaths at the state level. We hypothesize

Machine Learning-Powered Encrypted Network Traffic Analysis: A Comprehensive Survey
IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, 2023Traffic analysis is the process of monitoring network activities, discovering specific patterns, and gleaning valuable information from network traffic. It can be applied in various fields such as network assert probing and anomaly detection.

Traffic Equilibrium with Responsive Traffic Control
Transportation Science, 1993This paper presents a theory of traffic equilibrium which involves responsive signal control policies; in this theory drivers' route choices and the control policy's choice of green times are treated in a symmetrical manner. The central theme of the paper is the iterative optimization assignment algorithm.

The data demands and economics surrounding IP internetworking are such that IP routers are now connecting directly to SDH or DWDM systems. As such, many of the traditional mechanisms used to engineer the traffic over the physical infrastructure are no longer available. Consequently a new approach is required. This paper outlines a set of mechanisms and

Traffic prediction for dynamic traffic engineering considering traffic variation
2013 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2013Traffic engineering with traffic prediction is one approach to accommodate time-varying traffic without frequent route changes. In this approach, the routes are calculated so as to avoid congestion based on the predicted traffic. The accuracy of the traffic prediction however has large impacts on this approach.

Expansion of city scale, traffic modes, traffic congestion, and air pollution
, 2021In recent years, the number of large cities and the incidence of urban haze have been increasing. However, whether population growth inevitably leads to air pollution is controversial. The expansion of city scale is accompanied by changes in traffic mode

Traffic Control Through Traffic Density
2019 3rd European Conference on Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), 2019The article is focused on dynamic driving in road transport. Current systems on the market are referred to as dynamic but have their limitations. Traffic management is an important aspect to ensure the proper functioning and safety of transport as an element of critical infrastructure.

Traffic Flow Prediction via Spatial Temporal Graph Neural Network
The Web Conference, 2020Traffic flow analysis, prediction and management are keystones for building smart cities in the new era. With the help of deep neural networks and big traffic data, we can better understand the latent patterns hidden in the complex transportation ...

The Traffic Problem, Traffic Laws, and Traffic Courts
The ANNALS of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, 1953At the end of 1952 the fatalities aggregated 38,000; nonfatal injuries 1,350,000; and property damage amounted to $3.5 million. Since the invention of the automobile, more than one million have lost their lives in traffic accidents. The millionth death occurred in December 1951.

Traffic rules and traffic safety
Safety Science, 1998Abstract In the present paper the effects of traffic rules on driver behaviour and on traffic safety are discussed. The discussion is mainly based on research conerning driver’s use of safety equipment, their speed adjustment and drunken driving with respect to safety potential, effects of the rules, and effects of enforcement on driver behaviour ...
