Traffic managed?

open access: yes, 2014
Perceiving changes in variable speed limits is a prerequisite for speed limit compliance. However, under certain circumstances our ability as drivers to detect such changes around us is restrained. Variable speed limits embody traffic management information which drivers regard as very important and they will therefore be perceived more often.

Traffic Demand Management In Three Historic Cities: Results Of A Multivariate Analysis of Business Attitudes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The problem of traffic congestion and pollution in cities has become a major focus of UK transport policy in recent years. The government consultation paper, Breaking the Logjam (DETR, 1998), considered two specific traffic demand management policies ...

Profiling Localized Immunomodulation and Drug Biodistribution within a Subcutaneous Vascularized Niche for Cell Transplantation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We studied how five common immunosuppressants behave when delivered directly to a transplant site instead of systemically. Using a vascularized implant for islet transplantation, we show that local delivery protects grafts, limits drug spread to the rest of the body, and produces distinct immune signatures.

Neutrophil‐Driven Cascade‐Targeted Nanocarriers Restore Mitochondrial Homeostasis to Ameliorate Renal Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A neutrophil‐mediated dual‐targeting liposome (NKN‐LNP) is developed to treat renal ischemia–reperfusion injury. The system enables spatiotemporally controlled delivery of NMN to injured tubules via MMP‐2/9 activation and KIM1 recognition, restoring mitochondrial function through NAD+‐SIRT3 signaling and preventing the transition from acute kidney ...

Lymphoid‐Tissue‐on‐Chip Recapitulates Human Antibody Responses In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The presented lymphoid‐tissue‐on‐chip system allows culture of primary human tonsil cells at organotypic high density under perfusion for up to 4 weeks, emulates immune response to soluble vaccines and vaccination via peripheral antigen‐presenting cells and represents a useful tool to assess cellular interactions during homeostasis, immune responses ...

Assessment and analysis of accents in air traffic control speech: a fusion of deep learning and information theory

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurorobotics
IntroductionEnhancing the generalization and reliability of speech recognition models in the field of air traffic control (ATC) is a challenging task. This is due to the limited storage, difficulty in acquisition, and high labeling costs of ATC speech ...

Natural Variation of NAR5 Determines Nitrogenase Activity and the Yield in Soybean

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identified NAR5, a gene encoding a subtilisin‐like protease, that regulates nitrogenase activity in soybean nodules. Overexpressing NAR5 delayed nodule senescence, enhancing nitrogenase activity, yield, and low‐nitrogen tolerance. The elite haplotype NAR5HapI‐1 linked to superior nitrogenase activity and greater seed weight has been ...

Impact of Ionosphere on Ground‑Based Augmentation System in Low‑Latitude Regions

open access: yesNanjing Hangkong Hangtian Daxue Xuebao
The high frequency and intensity of ionospheric activity in low-latitude regions pose a critical threat to the positioning accuracy, integrity, and service continuity of ground-based augmentation systems (GBAS).
