Road traffic noise

Reviews of Physics in Technology, 1972
Following the publication of the Wilson report in 1963 much attention has been drawn to solving problems connected with road traffic noise. In this article the relevant noise level standards are described and the phenomenon of noise from individual vehicles and taffic as a whole is discussed.

Road traffic noise, noise sensitivity and psychological disorder

Psychological Medicine, 1993
SynopsisThe relationship between traffic noise exposure and psychological morbidity was assessed using the population-based Caerphilly Collaborative Survey of 2398 men from Caerphilly, South Wales. The findings showed that traffic noise exposure levels were strongly associated with annoyance to noise.

Hypertension and Road Traffic Noise Exposure

Journal of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, 2007
The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between road traffic noise exposure at home and the prevalence of hypertension. We conducted cross-sectional analyses in a large random sample (N=40,856) of inhabitants of Groningen City, and in a subsample (the Prevention of Renal and Vascular End-Stage Disease [PREVEND]) study cohort; N=8592 ...

Traffic Noise and Housing Values

2002
Noise is one of the most serious forms of pollution and one of the main causes of the deterioration of the quality of life in urban areas. This paper analyzes the effects of traffic noise on house prices in the historic center of Ferrara. The analysis was done by analyzing the distribution of house prices and noise pollution, using multiple regression.

Air Absorption Of Traffic Noise

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1993
Air absorption is considered as a phenomenon modifying geometrical spreading. Expressions for the maximal A-weighted sound pressure level and the A-weighted sound exposure level are derived for train noise. They are given in terms of the tabulated change in sound pressure level due to air absorption for particular values of characteristic frequency ...

Traffic noise intensity

1999
In the field of transportation research it is of interest to calculate the noise-producing properties of a stream of equidistant acoustic sources moving at constant speed. Weiss (1970) developed a probabilistic model of traffic noise intensity from vehicles on a long straight highway.

Traffic noise transmitted indoors

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America
In numerous countries, traffic noise is widely acknowledged as a highly disturbing form of pollution. Given that individuals spend a substantial portion of their day indoors, the impact of traffic noise perceived indoors is of considerable significance.
