Influence Analysis of Simulation Parameters on Numerical Prediction of Compressible External Flow Field Based on NACA0012 Airfoil under Hypersonic Speed

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Currently, the influence of numerical parameters on the prediction accuracy of the compressible external flow field characterized by a NACA0012 airfoil under hypersonic speed, especially the influence analyses of the trailing edge shape, the modeling ...

Computation of Trailing Edge Noise with a Discontinuous Galerkin Method

open access: yes, 2010
Trailing edge noise of a semi-infinite, thin, flat plate situated in low Mach number flow is computed in two spatial dimensions. The Acoustic Perturbation Equations (APE), which are employed as governing equations, are discretized via a Discontinuous ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Design and Aerodynamic Authority Analysis of ContinuousTrailing-edge Flap for Helicopter Blade

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan, 2018
Continuous trailing-edge flap has many advantages over conventional discrete flap in helicopter rotor vibration reduction applications, such as light weight, compact structure and stable airflow. Macro fiber composite is chosen as the actuating material.

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Bioinspired Trailing-Edge Noise Control [PDF]

open access: yesAIAA Journal, 2015
Strategies for trailing edge noise control have been inspired by the downy canopy that covers the surface of exposed flight feathers of many owl species. Previous wind tunnel measurements demonstrate that canopies of similar characteristics can reduce pressure fluctuations on the underlying surface by as much as 30dB, and significantly attenuate ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Adaptive control of a nonlinear aeroelastic system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Aeroelastic two-dimensional wing section with both trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE) was investigated in this paper through numerical simulation in time domain.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
