Effects of Splitter Plates on Turbulent Quantities on a Boundary Layer Developing on a Flat Plate near the Trailing Edge

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2011
An experimental investigation was made on a turbulent boundary layer near the trailing edge on a long flat plate with a blunt trailing edge. The flow was controlled by an additional splitter plate attached to the trailing edge along the wake center line.

Helicopter rotor trailing edge noise

open access: yes7th Aeroacoustics Conference, 1981
A two dimensional section of a helicopter main rotor blade was tested in an acoustic wind tunnel at close to full-scale Reynolds numbers to obtain boundary layer data and acoustic data for use in developing an acoustic scaling law and testing a first principles trailing edge noise theory. Results were extended to the rotating frame coordinate system to

Cold air study of the effect on turbine stator blade aerodynamic performance of coolant ejection from various trailing edge slot geometries. 2: Comparison of experimental and analytical results [PDF]

open access: yes
Experimentally determined efficiencies of turbine stator blades having trailing-edge coolant ejection are compared with efficiencies predicted from two previously published approximate analytical methods.

On the effect of leading edge blowing on circulation control airfoil aerodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes
In the present context the term circulation control is used to denote a method of lift generation that utilizes tangential jet blowing over the upper surface of a rounded trailing edge airfoil to determine the location of the boundary layer separation ...

Effects of Active and Passive Control Techniques on Mach 1.5 Cavity Flow Dynamics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2017
Supersonic flow over cavities has been of interest since 1960s because cavities represent the bomb bays of aircraft. The flow is transient, turbulent, and complicated. Pressure fluctuations inside the cavity can impede successful weapon release.

Blade-mounted trailing edge flap control for BVI noise reduction [PDF]

open access: yes
Numerical procedures based on the 2-D and 3-D full potential equations and the 2-D Navier-Stokes equations were developed to study the effects of leading and trailing edge flap motions on the aerodynamics of parallel airfoil-vortex interactions and on ...
