CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Learning from history: Non-Markovian analyses of complex trajectories for extracting long-time behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A number of modern sampling methods probe long time behavior in complex biomolecules using a set of relatively short trajectory segments. Markov state models (MSMs) can be useful in analyzing such data sets, but in particularly complex landscapes, the ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Molecular cancer prevention: Intercepting disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Oncological practice must evolve, from treating established tumours to proactive cancer interception before clinical manifestation. This will require mechanistic insight into tumour initiation, validated biomarkers of early disease development and redesigned clinical trials, enabling cancer interception to become a core pillar of oncology with the ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Real-time detection of traffic congestion based on trajectory data

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Traffic congestion is common in most cities. It not only affects people's normal travel time but also causes more traffic crashes. To solve the traffic congestion and reduce the corresponding hazards, it is necessary to quickly detect the location of ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Large Scale Evaluation of Normalized Hard-Braking Events Derived from Connected Vehicle Trajectory Data at Signalized Intersections, Roundabouts, and All-Way Stops

open access: yesFuture Transportation
Intersection safety has been traditionally evaluated using three to five years of crash data. Recent literature suggests that connected vehicle (CV)-derived hard braking (HB) events can provide a surrogate for crashes with only a few weeks or months of ...

Understanding the Functionality of Human Activity Hotspots from Their Scaling Pattern Using Trajectory Data

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2017
Human activity hotspots are the clusters of activity locations in space and time, and a better understanding of their functionality would be useful for urban land use planning and transportation.
