Biosorption of Phenolic Compounds by Fungus

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2009
The use of non-living Trametes versicolor polyporus fungus to remove phenol, 2-chlorophenol (2-CP) and 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) from water under equilibrium and column flow experimental conditions was evaluated.

Molecular diagnosis by PCR-DHPLC technique of wood-decay fungi in historical buildings in Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Wood inhabiting fungi cause real problems in the preservation of wooden surfaces and are responsible for the deterioration of cultural heritage. The identification of fungi based on morphological characteristics are still a topical issue.

Gradients of Aliveness and Engineering: A Taxonomy of Fungal Engineered Living Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 5, 22 January 2026.
This paper explores the potential of fungal engineered living materials (ELMs), examining fungal biology and growth mechanisms, which underpin their development. It presents a classification framework based on aliveness, scaffold composition, and engineering degree. Unique properties such as self‐healing, biosensing, and bioremediation are highlighted,

A Preliminary Study on the Newly Isolated High Laccase-producing Fungi: Screening, Strain Characteristics and Induction of Laccase Production

open access: yesOpen Life Sciences, 2018
A simple separation method was used in this study to directly separate laccase-producing fungi from withered plant materials. A laccase-producing filamentous fungus was isolated and purified. The strain was highly similar to the species in genus Trametes

Enzymatically Synthesized Poly(Gallic Acid) Modulates Methionine Synthase Activity and Neuroblastoma Morphology in Contrast to Phthalate‐Type Endocrine Disruptors

open access: yesBiopolymers, Volume 117, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT The effect of the enzyme‐mediated poly(gallic acid) (PGAL) as a potential redox regulator or redox activity compound (RAC) on the morphology of human neuroblastoma SH‐SY5Y cells and its methionine synthase (MS) activities is contrasted to those for disrupting compounds (EDC).

Growth of Trametes versicolor on phenol

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology, 2008
Trametes versicolor 1 was shown to grow on phenol as its sole carbon and energy source. The culture growth and degradation ability dependence on culture medium pH value was observed. The optimal pH value of a liquid Czapek salt medium was 6.5. The investigated strain utilized completely 0.5 g/l phenol in 6 days.

Characterization of the factors that influence sinapine concentration in rapeseed meal during fermentation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
We analyzed and compared the difference in sinapine concentration in rapeseed meal between the filamentous fungus, Trametes sp 48424, and the yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, in both liquid and solid-state fermentation.
