Emergent Spin‐Glass Behavior in an Iron(II)‐Based Metal–Organic Framework Glass

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A one‐pot, solvent‐free synthesis yields an Fe2+‐based metal‐organic framework (MOF) glass featuring a continuous random network structure. The material exhibits spin‐glass freezing at 14 K, driven by topological‐disorder and short‐range magnetic frustration, showcasing the potential of MOF glasses as a plattform for cooperative magnetic phenomena in ...

A case-control genome-wide association study identifies genetic modifiers of fetal hemoglobin in sickle cell disease. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a group of inherited blood disorders that have in common a mutation in the sixth codon of the β-globin (HBB) gene on chromosome 11.

Laser‐Based Sculpturing of Embedded Ultrathin Metal‐Oxide Nanopores for Enhanced Biomolecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled laser‐drilling of embedded HfO2 membranes creates three layer nanopores with Gaussian‐shaped cavities sculptured in the supporting layers. These embedded solid‐state nanopores slow DNA translocation by 12‐fold compared to SiNx pores, enabling high‐resolution, label‐free detection of short DNAs, RNAs, and proteins.

Chromatin dynamics and the regulation of B-glohin gene expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The human B-globin locus is frequently used as a model system to study mechanisms controlling tissue-specific and developmentally regulated gene expression.

Identification and characterisation of transcriptional regulatory proteins that modulate estrogen receptor α activity

open access: yes, 2009
Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women in the Western world, accounting for 18% of all female cancers. Two-thirds of breast cancers express Estrogen receptor-α (ERα) and ERα is a predictive and positive prognostic marker.

Photo‐Switching Thermal and Lithium‐Ion Conductivity in Azobenzene Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light‐responsive azobenzene polymers control thermal and ionic transport simultaneously through structural transitions. UV illumination disrupts π–π stacking, converting crystalline trans states to amorphous cis configurations. Thermal conductivity drops from 0.45 to 0.15 W·m−1·K−1 while Li+ diffusivity increases 100 fold. This dual transport switching

A Continuous-Wave EPR Investigation into the Photochemical Transformations of the Chromium(I) Carbonyl Complex [Cr(CO)4bis(diphenylphosphino)]+ and Reactivity with 1-hexene

open access: yesMolecules
Chromium complexes containing a bis(diphenylphosphino) ligand have attracted significant interest over many years due to their potential as active catalysts for ethylene oligomerisation when combined with suitable co-catalysts such as triethylaluminium ...
