Regional transarterial chemoembolization combined with chemoradiotherapy for locally advanced rectal cancer: a retrospective study of a new combination

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2023
ObjectivesLocally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) has a high risk of distant metastasis (DM). Currently, many treatment courses of LARC have arisen, but patients’ DM status has not significantly improved.

Modified transarterial chemoembolization with locoregional administration of sorafenib for treating hepatocellular carcinoma: feasibility, efficacy, and safety in the VX-2 rabbit liver tumor model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
PURPOSE:We aimed to assess the feasibility, efficacy and safety of a local application of sorafenib within a conventional transarterial chemoembolization in the VX-2 tumor-bearing rabbit model.METHODS:VX-2 tumors were induced in the left liver lobe of 10

The Cancer Cell Metabolic Reprogramming Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment: Molecular Mechanisms and Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review elucidates how cancer cell metabolic reprogramming—across glucose, lipid, amino acid, and nucleotide pathways—remodels the tumor microenvironment to suppress anti‐tumor immunity and promote immune escape. Targeting these metabolic axes offers promising strategies to overcome immunotherapy resistance and enhance cancer treatment.

mRECIST criteria and contrast-enhanced US for the assessment of the response of hepatocellular carcinoma to transarterial chemoembolization

open access: yesDiagnostic and Interventional Radiology, 2014
PURPOSEWe aimed to evaluate the combination of the modified Response Evaluation Criteria In Solid Tumors (mRECIST) and contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) as a tool for the assessment of hepatocellular carcinoma treated with transarterial ...

USP4‐Dependent CHAF1B Stabilization Regulates Distinct SETDB1 Ubiquitin States Linked to AKT T308 Signaling and Lipogenic Remodeling in HCC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
USP4 stabilizes CHAF1B by limiting K48‐linked ubiquitination. Stabilized CHAF1B supports UHRF1‐associated K63‐linked SETDB1 ubiquitination and cytoplasmic redistribution, whereas CHAF1B loss favors VHL‐dependent K11‐associated degradative ubiquitination and proteasomal loss of SETDB1.

Bridge Therapy before Liver Transplant for Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesMedicina
Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common primary liver tumor. Orthotopic liver transplant is one of the best treatment options, but its waiting list has to be considered. Bridge therapies have been introduced in order to limit this issue.

Mac‐2 Binding Protein Glycosylation Isomer (M2BPGi)–Based Risk Stratification Refined by Tumor Metabolic Activity in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
M2BPGi reflects background liver fibrosis and hepatic functional impairment. PET SUVmax reflects tumor metabolic aggressiveness. Their combination identifies a dual‐high subgroup with the poorest recurrence‐free and overall survival. ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate the prognostic significance of preoperative Mac‐2 binding protein glycosylation isomer (M2BPGi)
