Magnetoelectric Nanoparticle‐Based Wireless Brain–Computer Interface: Underlying Physics and Projected Technology Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetoelectric nanoparticles (MENPs) enable fully wireless, minutely invasive neuromodulation, and potentially neural recording, by converting magnetic into electric and, conversely, electric into magnetic fields, respectively, at high spatiotemporal resolution.

The role of vascular laboratory in the management of Eagle syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2018
Eagle syndrome is caused by an elongated styloid process or calcified stylohyoid ligament. The stylocarotid variant with neurologic symptoms is rare and presents a diagnostic challenge.

Organoid Brain‐Machine‐Interface Devices for Central Nervous System Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We envision organoid brain‐machine‐interface (Organoid‐BMI) devices as new biohybrid bidirectional communication pathways to connect the human CNS and the external world for personalized CNS repair and regeneration. ABSTRACT Central nervous system (CNS) repair and regeneration suffer from tremendous clinical challenges due to current limitations in ...

Polydopamine Nanoparticle‐Mediated Precise Near‐Infrared Optical Stimulation for Cognitive Enhancement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polydopamine nanoparticles enable a precise, non‐genetic, and transcranial neuromodulation strategy via near‐infrared photothermal stimulation. By activating TRPV1 channels, this approach specifically enhances hippocampal gamma oscillations, thereby rescuing spatial memory deficits in models of perioperative neurocognitive disorder.

Transcranial focused ultrasound precise neuromodulation: a review of focal size regulation, treatment efficiency and mechanisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
Ultrasound is a mechanical wave that can non-invasively penetrate the skull to deep brain regions to activate neurons. Transcranial focused ultrasound neuromodulation is a promising approach, with the advantages of noninvasiveness, high-resolution, and ...

Enlarged Area of Mesencephalic Iron Deposits in Adults Who Stutter

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2021
PurposeChildhood onset speech fluency disorder (stuttering) is possibly related to dopaminergic dysfunction. Mesencephalic hyperechogenicity (ME) detected by transcranial ultrasound (TCS) might be seen as an indirect marker of dopaminergic dysfunction ...

HD‐tDCS Restores Perivascular AQP4 Polarization via PPARγ Modulation to Enhance Glymphatic Clearance After Intracerebral Hemorrhage in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
HD‐tDCS promotes recovery after intracerebral hemorrhage by enhancing PPARγ‐dependent astrocyte remodeling in a mouse model of ICH. This process suppresses proinflammatory astrocytic activation, restores perivascular AQP4 repolarization, and improves glymphatic influx and efflux, thereby facilitating hematoma and perihematomal edema clearance and ...

Magnetoelectric Nanoparticles Enable Modulation of Cortical Networks by Low‐Intensity Static Magnetic Fields In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neuromodulation strategies are increasingly needed to stimulate, restore, or replace altered neuronal activity in disease. Cobalt ferrite‐barium titanate (CFO–BTO) magnetoelectric nanoparticles convert low‐intensity static magnetic fields into local electrical modulation of cortical networks.

Low‐intensity focused ultrasound neuromodulation for drug‐resistant epilepsy: A randomized, sham‐controlled crossover trial

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective This study was undertaken to evaluate the safety, feasibility, and efficacy of low‐intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) as a noninvasive neuromodulation technique in patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE). Methods In this pilot, single‐blind, randomized sham‐controlled crossover trial, 12 patients with DRE underwent both LIFU and
