FEM-Based Design and Characterization of a Millimeter-Scale Piezoelectric Resonance Force Sensor

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper presents a millimeter-scale piezoelectric effect-based force sensor that uses the change in its resonant frequency as the detection principle for high sensitivity and a wide measurement range.

Coating thickness and elastic modulus measurement using ultrasonic bulk wave resonance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Measurement of the resonant through thickness ultrasonic modes of a homogeneous plate using a fast Fourier transform of the temporal data can be used to calculate plate thickness very accurately.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Ultrasonic bone densitometer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
A device, for measuring the density of a bone structure so as to monitor the calcium content, is described. A pair of opposed spaced ultrasonic transducers are held within a clamping apparatus closely adjacent the bone being analyzed.

Aperiodic String Transducers

open access: yes, 2016
Regular string-to-string functions enjoy a nice triple characterization through deterministic two-way transducers (2DFT), streaming string transducers (SST) and MSO definable functions. This result has recently been lifted to FO definable functions, with

Multi-layered piezoelectric composite transducers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Multilayered piezoelectric materials present themselves as a suitable technology for the development of sub 100kHz transducers. A variety of different configurations have been proposed, including stacked 2-2, 1-3 and 3-1 connectivity configurations ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
