Thermo-optic enhancement of the optomechanical transduction
Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science 2021, 2021We show how the dynamic thermo-optic effect can be used to enhance the optomechanical transduction. As an example, we compare thermo-optic effects in silicon on oxide against silicon on diamond devices.

Enhanced Cochlear Transduction by AAV9 with High-Concentration Sucrose
Human Gene Therapy, 2023The inner ear is a primary lesion in sensorineural hearing loss and has been a target in gene therapy. The efficacy of gene therapy depends on achieving sufficient levels of transduction at a safe vector dose. Vectors derived from various adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) are predominantly used to deliver therapeutic genes to inner ear cells.

Photochemically enhanced adenoviral transduction in a multicellular environment
Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences, 2006Photochemical internalization (PCI) enhances adenovirus (Ad) transgene expression in a variety of cell lines in vitro. However, measurements of the photochemical effect on transduction in multicellular environments are lacking. In this study, spheroids of DU 145 prostate cancer cells were used as a model to evaluate Ad serotype 5 (Ad5) transduction in ...

Virosomes: Cationic Liposomes Enhance Retroviral Transduction
Nature Biotechnology, 1996Retrovirus-derived vectors are overwhelmingly preferred over other methods for ex vivo gene therapy because they provide permanent integration of foreign genes into cellular DNA. In comparison, cationic lipids mediate efficent gene transfer, but expression is transient.

Enhanced Neuroblastoma Transduction for an Improved Antitumor Vaccine
Journal of Surgical Research, 1999A recent clinical trial of an antineuroblastoma vaccine used adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5) vectors to transduce autologous tumor cells with the gene encoding IL-2. A method to improve transduction efficiency was sought to enable the use of lower viral titers, especially when in situ adenoviral-mediated tumor cell transduction is considered.A chimeric ...

Squeezing-enhanced optomechanical transduction sensitivity
2013 Conference on Lasers & Electro-Optics Europe & International Quantum Electronics Conference CLEO EUROPE/IQEC, 2013High-sensitivity interferometric detection of mechanical displacements has received much attention over the past decades, due to its vast field of applicability, e.g. in gravitational wave detection, cantilever-based single spin detection, and the quest to reveal quantum effects in mesoscopic mechanical systems.

Haircell forward and reverse transduction: Differential suppression and enhancement
Hearing Research, 1990Cochlear outer haircells are believed to play a significant role in an amplification process which greatly enhances inner ear sensitivity. Haircell forward (mechanical-to-electrical) and reverse (electrical-to-mechanical) transduction may be involved.

Signal Transduction Pathways in Enhanced Microvascular Permeability
Microcirculation, 2000ABSTRACTWe have been investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying pathophysiological regulation of microvascular permeability on isolated venules and cultured venular endothelial monolayers. Physiological approaches have been employed in combination with molecular analyses to probe the signal transduction pathways leading to enhanced microvascular

Bandwidth Enhancement Strategies for Acoustic Data Transmission by Piezoelectric Transduction
2021 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2021Several applications, such as underwater vehicles or waste containers, require the ability to transfer data from transducers enclosed by metallic structures. In these cases, Faraday shielding makes electromagnetic transmission highly inefficient, and suggests the employment of ultrasonic transmission as a promising alternative.

Magnetic Nanoparticles Enhance Adenovirus Transduction In Vitro and In Vivo
Pharmaceutical Research, 2011Adenoviruses are among the most powerful gene delivery systems. Even if they present low potential for oncogenesis, there is still a need for minimizing widespread delivery to avoid deleterious reactions. In this study, we investigated Magnetofection efficiency to concentrate and guide vectors for an improved targeted delivery.Magnetic nanoparticles ...
